Not directly related to Spaceflight but...

STS-107 astronaut Ilan Ramon's eldest son has just crashed his F-16 during routine training.

He wasn't the pilot. He was killed on the ground:

Quote from: BBC

An Israeli F-16 fighter jet has crashed in the West Bank, killing the pilot.

The 21-year-old pilot, Assaf Ramon, was the son of Israel's only astronaut, Ilan Ramon, who died in the explosion of the space shuttle Columbia in 2003.

Quote from: Jerusalem Post

IAF officer Lt. Assaf Ramon, 20, the son of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon who died in the 2003 fatal Columbia mission, was killed on Sunday after the F-16 he was piloting crashed into the southern Hebron hills.

I was very sad to hear about this.
I am sure he would have been as big a hero as his father.

Tragic. Low flying excerise in a hilly region, no time to eject. Impact site is small.

Looks like it would have been instantanious. Small blessing.

He'll currently be getting a tour of Columbia by his father after meeting them both in heaven.

Just like his father, quick and hopefully painless. Very bad and horrific to hear about this, Ilan was regarded as a Hero in Israeli especially after the disaster.
