Here's a view of the hatchway between Zvezda & MRM-2. It is taken from an HD video fly-through of the ISS by the STS-129 crew.
Zvezda's hatchway is in the bottom half of the picture, MRM-2's is in the top.

Interestingly, it looks like the orange insulation material has been removed from around Zvezda's hatchway. You can also see discolouration of the metal around Zvezda's hatchway.

Has Progress M-MIM2 undocking (from Poisk) and deorbit already been performed?

arrrggghhh!

So ....why didn't they keep it attached and use the 600 kg of extra prop for roll control?

From my JSR page, based on the above Russian link:

The new Poisk airlock module was delivered to the station by a
Progress-type service module or 'priborno-agregatniy otsek'
(PAO, instrument-equipment module); the joint assembly was called
Progress M-MIM2. On Dec 8 at 0016 UTC the Progress M-MIM2 PAO
undocked from Poisk, and at 0448 UTC the PAO fired its engine
to reenter over the Pacific. Separation of the PAO from Poisk
frees up the latter's docking port for use by visiting vehicles.

The report today in Izvestiya [www.izvestia.ru/news/news224408] has an image to illustrate the module separation. Check it out:

I know they usually grab old stock photos to illustrate spaceflight events, but jeez, this really stretches that already-sloppy policy, nyet?

Wow, I did not know that the MRM-2 was delivered by an ATV, for some reason I was under the impression is was a Progress variant!  ;)

Anyhow, image of the propulsion section after separation

Thanks a lot for that picture. I was very curious as to what the separated PAO would look like (Pirs was before I got too interested in the ISS program) Hopefully some hi-res photos will also pop up.

Here is the Youtube video of undocking:

Soyuz-U rocket (11A511U-PVB No. B15000-121) lifted off at 14:22:04.057 UTC.

What means "PVB" ?
Is "11A511U-PVB the official designation of this launcher ?

Progress M-MIM2 cargo ship-module (11F615A55 No. 302) separated at 14:30:54.096 UTC.

I've read that official designation of spacecrafts for SO1 and MIM2 was "11F615A55.40"...

Rocket with the fire and explosion safety. This safety was added after explosion in Plesetsk in 1980. It is official designation.

Yes, 11F615A55.40, Progress M modification for cargo-ship module.

A great video showing the view out of MRM-2's aft-port facing window (available in HD).

Thanks! I'm looking forward to see some HD videos from the MRM-2 of a Soyuz or ATV docking! :)
