Thanks.

There are some free space paper models out there, I don't have specific URL's off the top of my head, but hobbyspace.com and ninfinger.org have links.  There's an Italian site with free ISS and shuttle paper models, and a Dutch site with some rockets including various Delta 2's.

Edit: Here's the Dutch site I was talking about, I just found it:

http://www.pe2tr.nl/index2.htm

Not sure where the Delta 2 models went, but there are plenty of others.

And here's the Italian site:

http://www.marscenter.it/veicol.asp?pa=605

They've got Shuttle, ISS, and Soyuz models.

http://axmpaperspacescalemodels.com has many free models including:
Ares 1X
Crawler transporter
MLP (All)
General orbiter closed payload bay doors (All)
Shuttle Stack (All)
Many free open payload bay models (ex. STS-1, STS-124, STS-126, STS-125, STS-128 and many more)

AXM is going to release the HTV soon. It will be in 1:100 and 1:144 scale. It will include the experiments for the Jem-EF which is currently modeled. Checkout the HTV page on the site.

Speaking of Alfonso's models, over the weekend I built his 1/144th-scale Ares I-X. It's a well-designed model, and it also lends itself to adding some detail, which I did. Now on to Oct. 27!

Next is to finish my HTV hopefully by the end of the weekend (homework permitting) Not much left
After that is to do my experiments for my STS-127 JEF for ISS.

Last pic is of all my payload bay models for the last four missions.

Thanks for showing these, Spaceboy.  The HTV and Kibo look good.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Is this the thread for anim8or questions/ issues, postings, or is virtual modelling talked about somewhere else?

Thanks for showing these, Spaceboy.  The HTV and Kibo look good.

I finally figured out what to do with those "extra" modules from my ISS model kit.  Since, there is no ATV or HTV for it, but they are available as paper models online, I used them as coverings for the Hab and Centrifuge modules.  Here's the HTV (still in progress: I need to modify the exposed section and add the propulsion module, but I did crinkle the paper for a thermal covering effect, add the solar panels on card stock, and add an extra grapple fixture from the ISS Enhancement Parts set.):

Hey,

I bought a piece today from a guy here in Huntsville, Alabama.  I just listed it on eBay, if anyone wants to check it out.  It is an ORIGINAL Protoype mock-up for Apollo 11.  It's listed here:

Not a backup or prototype for Apollo 11 at all.  Seems to be a prototype for the original Apollo program of some sort, but the angles are all wrong.  They had all that worked out before Apollo 7 flew, much less 11.

The typed note inside the model (shown in one of the photographs) says the following:

Quote
APOLLO CAPSULE MODEL

This Model is of the single-seated Mercury capsule that carried
astronaut Alan Shepard on a sub-orbital flight in 1961 as the first
American in space.

The pioneer designer, John Finley Yardley, was project engineer for
the design of the single-seat Mercury capsule that flew in 1961.
Later, Mr. Yardley oversaw the two-seat Gemini flights, which let
American astronauts spend much more time in orbit, perform orbital
rendezvous and walk in space -- accomplishments that led to the Apollo
moon landings.

He was also vice president fot the Skylab program and vice president
and general manager of the space shuttle program at McDonnell Douglas.

Almost looks like the Martin Apollo W-1 proposal.

Well, a Mercury prototype and Apollo 11 certainly are NOT the same thing.  Also, there is no Apollo 11 program: Apollo 11 was the first moon landing mission of the Apollo program.  So, that's a bit of false advertisement I'd suggest.

Nah, I'm just a guy who doesn't really know SQUAT about space.  (My daughter went to Space Camp here in Huntsville this summer.  Does THAT count?...lol)

I'm just trying to remember everything that the guy I got it from told me today (from memory)..  I went back and changed the auction, after I realized that apparently Mercury and Apollo were NOT the same... (Which I thought they were after my conversation with the Seller....)

I want HAPPY BUYERS!  If anything DOES seem misleading, it is ABSOLUTELY not intentional...Just the product of someone trying to list something that they don't FULLY understand!

(That's why I came to this website for HELP...Plus I thought ya'll might be interested in it..)

THANKS!@

That's an interesting thought on it being a Proposal design.  I wonder what all different projects that McDonnell-Douglas (or was it 2 seperate companies back then) made mock proposal FOR?

Anyone know where I can find out?

...now with the external details finished.  Still need to cut out the bay for the Exposed Payloads as I butcher my Hab module further ;).

That looks to me like a mock-up of the Apollo LES nosecone-- there's a clear dome at the very top, for the 8-ball, which the Apollo LES had in it's nosecone, and the size, angles, and diameter are about right.

The shape is all wrong for any kind of Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo capsule mockup.  Even the Saturn I and Block II's that launched with a 'sharp' nosecone like this used a Jupiter nosecone, and it had a sharp tip, not a clear rounded domed tip like this one has.

Later!  OL JR :)
