Cool!!  I've had that model since the early 1970's, assembled but lost
the LES.  Still have what's left on display in my display case (see pic below; located on the upper shelf, right behind the glass door to the lower right of the Mercury Redstone):

To append my earlier posts concerning my 1/96th-scale Atlantis build, I've got the ET 98 percent done, so here are some photos. I used a rust-orange textured craft paper for the body, and everything else was scratchbuilt out of paper, except for two small parts of the aft orbiter attachment fitting, the LO2 feedline fairing and the nose spike -- made out of basswood or toothpicks -- and silver thread used for the two bits of plumbing that run the length of the ET.

Here is my current progress on my MLP. It just needs a little more detailing. I will finish it tonight. :)

Hey dhanners, that ET looks perfect!!!!!!!

Can I guess these came from the AXM model site? I didn't take time to read all 44 pages of this post.

I plan on starting an orbiter from that site as soon as I can.

Mine came from AXM but dhanners, where did your Orbiter come from? It looks great. Did you make it scratch? :)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Matthew. No, the ET is largely scratchbuilt. I did use some of of the diagrams from the AXM site in helping me place some of the details and colors, though. Similarly, the SRBs are largely scratchbuilt.

I finally got the thing done over the weekend, so here are some photos:

A bunch more photos can be found here:
http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc91/dhanners/Atlantis/

In all, I estimate I used 11 different types of paper on the Orbiter, eight different types on the ET and nine types on the SRBs.

And sorry for taking so long to respond to you, too. The Orbiter came from the MARS Center site in Italy. It can be found here:
http://www.marscenter.it/veicol.asp?pa=6054

I should note that the model would fall into the "complex" category, and there are some issues with the markings and TPS patterns, particularly on the belly. It took some work to correct them.

I've not yet built any of Alfonso's shuttles from his AXM site. The vast majority of my stuff is in 1/96th scale, so that's what I prefer to work in. The MARS Center shuttle is in 1/100th, but I re-sized it to 1/96th. Alfonso's stuff is 1/144th scale.

I'm going to be posting a very cool model tonight on eBay (kyzyl2000 is my account name).

It's the Revell Mercury Atlas - John Glenn model.  It has a very detailed launch pad and facility.  It's just a beautiful model.  Little fuel truck, railings, blast deflector, etc.

I remember building this model as a kid with my father in the early 60s.  I'll post the eBay auction number later tonight.

I got the Revell Mercury Atlas; just never got around to building it.  Really
nice kit!
