Neat video! I never realized how low those Sat V mod rockets actually flew. All of the Sat V's I've built have been shelf sitters.

This Saturn flight probably went about 350 feet (which is ideal for the weight/power used).  All of my models I've built were meant to be flown,
otherwise they'd be just models, not model rockets.  I have another one
recently built (the vintage Estes K-36 kit) that has been extensively modified and should fly on a cluster of five engines (instead of three as
you saw in the video).  Pic of that K-36 model below (with the Centuri
model on the right).  The K-36 model needs some correction on the Service Module detailing before I commit it for launch.

Does anyone know if there are at least moderately detailed drawings of the Mars Exploration Rovers anywhere? I'm interested in building a 1:20 or 1:10 model from scratch. I think I could wing it with decent accuracy from the renderings and photos on the mission site, but I'd prefer to keep guessing to a minimum.

Also, does anyone have any favored links for model building tips? I'll probably be using mostly balsa and paper.

Thanks.

I've been also looking for detailed drawings, but I couldn't find any. So, If anyone has drawings, please put them here.

Maybe that's a metaphor for what the US Congress did to Apollo.

That's too funny. That's what happens when you get a 'cheap' translator/instruction maker.

There are a few card models available that you can use as a starting point:

Anybody having trouble loading cardmodels.net?  That is my stopping-off point for browsing new space station module builds.

cardmodels.net seems to be working some of the time, sometimes not.  But here are some of my builds anyway.  The ISS modules are a mix of AXM and Marscenter, and the ESA model of the ATV, all in 1/100.  The Hubble is Ton's super-detailed model, and it's a work in progress.  Not sure of the scale, but the site is at www.hubblesite.org/go/model

The Ares 1 makes a lovely model at 1/200, but it's touch to balance it on my fingertip.

Are model makers aware of this recently released digital ISS model ?
How do I get it to work?
I downloaded the file but don't know what to do from there. :)

Good question. I was going to mail NASA and ask them to release a more user friendly model but have not had the time yet. Ask them if you can.

With a 3D rendering package such as 3DS Max or Blender, or a 3D model viewer you can load the ".3ds" file, but only an element at a time. For some reason it has been released in an "exploded" form. You may also need to move the textures into the same directory as the 3DS file. Fiddly ... hopefully NASA is listening.

Impressive!
