Does anybody know if there's a kit of the Titan II SLV?  I can find the ICBM and Gemini, but no joy on the SLV.

Sorry, there doesn't seem to be one.  Most likely due to lack of dimensions for everything above the 2nd stage.  Very little information seems to be published on it and there are no examples on display.

Probably the best source is below:

Hey everyone!

I ordered a Delta IVM kit from RealSpace models a couple years back, and I'm just now getting around to starting it.  Does anybody know a good site for reference pics?

So far, these are the only reference pictures I can find.  They're not bad, but I'm looking for something a little closer up.

http://www.ktb.net/~billmeco/delta4NROL22A.html

As a bonus I'd like to scrounge up some nice shots of SLC-6 so I could make a diorama, but most importantly I just want to get the launch vehicle done before I worry about that.

Thanks in advance,

James

I just finished and flew this Dr. Zooch  Saturn V today! It was a WONDERFUL building experience, and the flight was spectacular on an Estes C6-3 engine.

So, what Titan Info do you have?  Especially for Titan 3 series?

Well I've finally got my stack into the vertical position.  I test fitted Columbia and took some more photos of Challenger.  I just need to work on the launch pad to fit the service masts I had from my old launch complex kit and add some decals to the boosters and orbiters.  As you can see Columbia is coming along.  I have the engines painted and the OMS pods complete  I just have to modify the Cutting Edge engines to fit on the Revell kit.  Sorry for all the photos lately.  I just had some free time to work on my models and thought I would share the progress.

My grandpa used to work on the Titan program until 1992, so he retired shortly after the first couple of Titan IV launches.  I have some pretty interesting pics of the explosion of the Titan 34D in April of 1986 (even though I was only in Kindergarten, I remember it like it was yesterday) and I also (I'd have to hunt it down) have a launch list of all the Vandenberg Titan launches, with launch conductor's name up until my grandpa retired.  When the Titan II SLV was introduced, my grandpa had to attend a couple training for it, and he brought me home the manual. I also have a floor plan of the SLC-4 blockhouse. Within the next few days, I'm going to scan the pictures of the explosion and put them on my MySpace page, so when I get them up, I'll post the link for anybody who's interested.

It appears that the re-issue of the Revell Shuttle Stack comes with the wing servicing masts.  When I built mine (back in 1989, the original "Discovery Return to Flight" boxing,) these pieces weren't there.  I believe that they were first tooled as part of Revell's classic LC-39 kit, but I could be wrong.

Anyways, keep up the excellent work, Ben!

Thanks CFE,  No the reissue doesn't come with the wing servicing masts.  I had the LC-39 kit back in the 80's when I built my first Challenger model but the Launch complex didn't survive me playing with it and I had enough sense to keep the servicing masts for future use.  Now after all these years they have come in handy for my current model.  I wish they had included them with the reissued kits.

Just a nitpick: It's Tail Service Masts, not Wing Service Masts. They service the aft not the wings,

Cool model Ben. Though, it's missing some tiny foam ramps for the bipod and two small aerodynamic ramps on the aft ET /orbiter struts. The links I gave show this clearly. :) Here's a close up I found http://www.interspacenews.com/interspace%20News%20Web%202/sections/photo%20galleries/STS-114%20Photo%20Gallery/DSC_0028et%20close%202.jpg

Sorry, I tend to be nitpicky on details.

Hey folks! I'm about 95% done with my RealSpace Models Delta IVM. Awesome kit...a pleasure to build.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/TomcatFanatic123/Delta%20IVM%20model/delta41.jpg" width="800" border="0" />

Just a couple of fiddly-bits left to go, along with the RS-68 nozzle, then it's done!  The brown is a close match, maybe a little too dark. It looks much darker in this picture than it does to the naked eye, though.

So are you going to put scorch marks on the side?;)
If I like something on NSF, it's probably because I know it to be accurate.  Every once in a while, it's just something I agree with.  Facts generally receive the former.

I've been recently playing around around with model building of a different variety; it involves less paint/glue mess and an undo button...

This isnt a model but it was a part of my wood shop project. My teacher got a wood burning laser to put pics and stuff onto projects and i thougt this would be cool to put a shuttle or something on it but i couldnt find a shuttle picture that would work so i had to settle for this on both sides...

Has anyone heard of, or attempted larger scale Shuttle or Apollo CM models?  I'm thinking an orbiter about 3 or 4 feet long, up to about 6 or 7 ft long?  I have no idea what scale that would be.

There was a user here who forwarded me the photos below of a large scale model in the Houston area, and I'm thinking smaller than this.

I would be interested to know how difficult it would be to maybe translate some basic dimensions into some plans for say a plywood shell, which could be painted and then detailed?

Perhaps the scale for common 12 inch action figures, which would make filling out a crew manifest easier!
