My Hasegawa 1/48 F-104N NASA chase plane. Finish is a mixture of Alclad, Gunze acrylics, and Bare Metal Foil.  Nose probe is made from hyperdermic syringes.  Shown at IPMS Baltimore's Maraudercon. Photo by Pete2e.

Cool looking plane Gene!  And nice to see a scratchbuilt Mariner as well.  Keep it up Jeff, look forward to the finished product.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Guys do you know what colors would work for painting the external tank of STS-26R? I just got another shuttle stack model and am planning to build it as STS-26R.

Perhaps not everyone is aware of this studio version of the LEM that was made in the past in anticipation of a possible "elongation" of the APOLLO program. Of course, in reality there were only fast feasibility studies and use, and they were studied various configurations, however, thanks to the model, you can travel with the imagination and find out how it would be if it was really built.

I was born in those years and, thanks to the Apollo program, I dreamed a lot, that's why I love all that has been and what could have been this program.

So I put the commitment and drawings at hand I made this version of a possible LEM SHELTER. A few pictures for you "lucidarvi" eyes! A new model for my vast collection of model-themed space.

Hi,

to do this I can advise you a good friend (Mike) of mine to ask at ARC Forums (crowe-t). He is an excellent modeler, who has built a fantastic Revell 1/144 Shuttle/Stack build/STS-133 what both the Orbiter and especially the ET concerns.  ::)

Ask him for advice about the colors, he can certainly help you.  8)

Happy New Year, all!
I’ve almost finished with my 1:24 Mariner 10 scratchbuild.  I’ve posted a few new photos on my photobucket page:

http://s240.beta.photobucket.com/user/jgoldader/library/My%20space%20models/Mariner%2010

The model is mostly Plastruct and Evergreen styrene card, rods, and tubes, with some Aves epoxy putty added to simulate thermal blankets.  The HGA dish was cut out of a plastic celestial sphere.  She’s dry-fitted and held together with tape in the pictures.

There are just a few bits to add before priming and foiling can begin.  The RCS thrusters near the HGA mount and at the tips of the solar arrays, and some cabling are the biggies left to do, but will be pretty easy.  There are some struts I’ll have to add to hold the sunshield below the bus into place, as well as the sunshades for the magnetometers, but I need to do the foiling first.

All in all, I’m happy with how she stands at the moment.

the concept is good, just don't care for the lego look (blocks).

Guys any tips for sculpting accurate OMS engine nozzles for the Monogram 1/72 scale orbiter. I was going to make resin nozzles.

Real Space Models sells a 1/72 resin shuttle OMS/SSME set.  Looks good.  Also the Revell 1/72 OMS bells are a little better than the Monogram ones.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

I know, and Real Space is going to revise their OMS engines after I let them know via this diagram of the nozzle. http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/a41.jpg  They said they'd fix that. All I'm looking for are the OMS engines. I'll wait for their revised engines, I the meantime I wish to test build a pair from sheet styrene.

I was thinking of cutting out my own from sheet styrene. Is there a paper model of the OMS engine in 1/72 scale? Just the engine please.

The model kit in an advanced stage of the ATV cargo capsule (1/72). The model kit will be the AMK KITS.ORG; the photogravures are made in collaboration with the LVM-STUDIOS.COM

I thought I would share some updated images of my SolidWorks Crawler model. It's probably about 1/3 done overall but it is begining to look a bit like the real thing. One of the great things about 3D CAD modeling is that you don't have to get anyone thing actually done before you can work on something else so I have been jumping around on parts of the model depending on what information I have available.

If anyone wants to see these in 3D, I have included 2 sections in .smg format. That is a SolidWorks Composer file type. You can get the player to view the files here;

http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/downloads.htm

Go to the 4th tab (Free CAD tools) and select the SW Composer player download (32 or 64 bit depending on your machine). Don't worry, It doesn't require you to register or give an e-mail so you won't get spamed.

Hi Jay,

nice to see you coming along with your crawler 3D model that's looking great.

When do you start with the building?

Awesome CT model there. :) When you do get to making your kits. Will there be any moving parts? The tracks move and it turn the model around corners, etc.

I hope you make a 1/72 scale plastic kit. :)

I don't have any plans towards making a physical model or a kit. This is just for my own enjoyment.

This model is as dimensionaly and structuraly accurate to the original as i can make it. Scaling it down to something that could be built as a kit would create some rediculously thin pieces and would require a large amount of re-engineering to make that possible.
