Some models at the NewSpace 2012. The models include Dragon docked to a BA-330, Shenzhou docked to Tiangong-1, CST-100, Excalibur Almaz spacecraft, Blue Origin space vehicle, DreamChaser, Soyuz and SpaceShipTwo with WhiteKnightTwo. Photo taken by Steve Jurvetson.

Beautiful!  Was there a contest or something, or were these supplied by companies for display?  I have thought about doing a Bigelow module from scratch, need to get more serious about doing that...

Anybody can build by himself a model of any mars rover: just go to PaperModeler or PaperReplika ! ;-)

(but be sure to select simplified version for wheels suspensions if you don't want to go crazy...)

Great work on the rover and Skycrane!  I'll see if I can try my hand at building the Curiosity paper rover while I wait for the Hot Wheels rover and the Dragon Apollo-Soyuz kit.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Is the 1/72 scale Saturn V still available and any news of a kit version of it in the future?

Not sure if there will be a kit version but I just got a 1/72 Saturn V a couple of weeks back from my local hobby shop.  Don't know how available it is elsewhere.

That Orion EFT-1's looking pretty good.

I'm now working on the 1/144 Airfix Saturn 1B which I'll finish as a 1973-75 vehicle for the Skylab/ASTP missions.

Tonight the 1/72nd Dragon Apollo-Soyuz kit finally came to my hobby shop.  I will build it soon.

And here's another in progress shot of the Saturn 1B.

Here's the Saturn 1B as of tonight.  The Apollo SM is now painted and the vehicle is gloss white.  This weekend I'll do a big masking job to get the black markings on.  Afterward comes the decals and the small parts plus engines.

The Hayabusa Lego looks good.  I'm waiting for Curiosity to come out.

I'm almost finished with my Saturn 1B.  Decals in work tonight, tomorrow will be the clear coats and finish.

Does anyone have the Dragon Models 1/72 Saturn V? I'm a bit confused and I have a few questions.

1. Has Dragon released this model as a kit as opposed to a ready finished display piece?

2. Do the stages separate?

I have the Dragon 1/72 Saturn V.  It's a finished display piece, I haven't heard that Dragon will release it as a kit, but that doesn't mean they won't.

The upper stage (S4B) separates but it isn't completely accurate.  And the interstage between the SIC and SII does not separate from the SII 2nd stage.  In addition the first stage engine fairings don't appear to be completely accurate.  I will use my modeling skills and a 1/72 Apogee Saturn V decal set to make it better.

I hope Dragon makes their 1/72 scale Saturn V kit soon.

I finished my 1/72nd scale Soyuz tonight.  I'm displaying it separately and won't build the Apollo portion yet (I have another Apollo done).  The Dragon Soyuz was vinyl with plastic parts, and it went together well except I had to get another kit and another part due to clumsiness on my part.  Today I found a small stand from Trumpeter that I was able to use for this.
