Hey, Jason, that's the 1:144 from Revell, right? Congratulations, You did not fall into the flag trap!

 :)  :)  :)

It's a beautiful model. How did You create the details on the ET feed lines? My model is missing them. Do You have an advice on how to add them?

It's a pity that Revell does not include the two MLP servicing masts from its launch tower kit. I do not like those supports that come with the current shuttle stack kit, but of course that is not Your fault.

You produced a great model, Jason -- I like it!

Edit: Hey, Your's is Discovery, mine is Endeavour. Now if we could talk someone into building another Revell 1:144 stack and name it Atlantis, we would have a fleet. Maybe we can finish the ISS on time? NSF delivers...

 ;)

Thanks for the comments. Yes, it is the 144 Revell model. If the flag you refer to is the one on the right wing, then yeah I just cut one from the decal sheet that belonged to the old colors and replaced the backwards one. As for the feed lines, I just tried to use a steady hand applying them with a brush. The picture dosen't show my mistakes very well. I wasn't really sure how many ice frost ramps existed in which areas, except for what I heard in one of the news confernces about thier redesign. I think that info turned out wrong as I have seen other pictures since I finished the model, where there appeared to be many more. I of course couldn't remove the PAL ramp with my limited ability so I just have to use my imagination when I'm flying it around in my backyard :) . I also had a problem with the payload bay doors, but oh well.

Here's mine http://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/models/html_pix/mdcolumbia.html 1/72 scale Monogram kit. I recently removed the LH2 pAL ramp and added the missing cable tray today. And as of now the ET is identical to the one now ready for STS-121 (though my model still has the LO2 PAL ramp). I also put Discovery in Columbia's place, but now I want to show STS-109 or 107, but OV-102 has no ET/SRBs to attach to. I have all four orbiters: Endeavour (just finished), Discovery, Columbia, and Atlantis and Discovery has Columbia's ET/SRBs. I really am trying to find a complete stack kit-just the ET/SRBs, but the orbiter with that kit would be useful too. :) The extra OV can be used to show the orbiter in space with a cargo in it.

For the ET on my model I used Model Masters Chrome Yellow as it matches the ET photos of a new tank from Michoud. As many who have the stack kit know it is missing the LH tank cable tray. I found a plastic 2.4mm U channel made by Evergreen plastics and it fits exactly. The only thing wrong with the tank is it doesn't have the detail of the thrust panels seen in the SRB sep videos. Also the only rectagular closeout on the intertank has to be removed. I just cut that out and found similar plastic sheets with the congruted pattern and used that to fill the hole. The closeout was redone in thin styrene and the small antenna cut off the kit's. The finished product is seen on the link.

Good looking shuttle model Jason.  Where did you find the reissued Revell kit?  I haven't been able to find one anywhere.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

It was just sitting on a shelf at the local hobby shop. I don't build many models and wasn't looking for this one in particular, just any would have done at the time. I was just looking for a fix. I did order the Revell ISS model and have recently started assembling it. I'm not having as much fun building it as I had with the stack. There are too many discrepancies (spelling?) with this kit. I wanted to assemble it in pieces to mimic the actual assembly but that's next to impossible. The recomended color schemes are without regard to reality, and trying to match paint to photos is a pain. It'll be done soon though, because I'm through with trying to match the detail.

What's Your location? The kit was widely re-distributed in Germany and Austria. I've seen it in many places -- a standard kit shipped in standard numbers. I do not know if it was distributed overseas, though.

This is a pre completion view of my ISS model. I haven't attatched the radiators yet (ran out of white paint). I also haven't completed the Kibo portion. I have been trying to omit things like the hab module and space plane because they won't be part of the end product. Does anyone know about the Russian solar panels that were to be attatched above Zarya and Zvezda? I thought I had heard that they would not be launched now. Anyone know of any other ommisions from this model kit. Your help is appreciated. A couple more pics to follow.

Tower Hobbies has them in stock and not very expensive either.  I bought two and I'm in the process of building them.

Well here's my work in progress.  I just painted the tiles on and I need to do the main engines, OMS pods, the cargo bay doors and decals to complete the orbiters then its on to the SRB's and ET.  But Here's what I have so far for Columbia and Challenger.

Thanks for the link Ben!

I'll build my Airfix space shuttle soon enough as STS-121, w/out the PAL Ramps (but with the lighter areas where they were).
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

My model due to  having to add the cable tray on the LH2 tank resembles the current stack. The best paint I found is mentioned in my earlier post, chrome yellow or random tan is close to the real thing. For my models, I scribbed the tiles on- sure time consuming but it makes the detail stand out more.

Say Ben is that the Revell kit or Monogram kit?

It's the Revell 1/144 reissue.  Well one's a reissue the other is the 1988 Discovery version.

This is my Estes Saturn V. I originally built it in 2002, but it was starting to look a bit yellowed and neglected. I just re did the paint and decals and am almost ready to do the black paint scheme. This is just for static display purposes as I've added modeling clay to make it nice and heavy.
