Well, at least someone over here remembers these people! I remember being quite annoyed at the time Helen Sharman flew to Mir that she was the first Briton in space and had to win a competition to get the chance.  It is just a symbol of how weak and backward-looking Britain has become since the end of WW2.

Heh... the pin reminds me of the logo of the World Space Corps in the old Dan Dare comic-books of the 1950s and 60s.
