Never been a patch fan....until the STS-400 patch, and this one is a GOOD one.

This patch came out five missions to soon. It's beautiful, but it strikes all the right chords for the final shuttle mission.

err, seems I may be the lone dissenter on this one, as I find this to be one ugly looking patch. this one doesn't work for me at all.

This is one of the best shuttle mission patches IMO. Excellent design and color.

I like it, but when you read the meanings within it it has a feel almost like they tried to stuff too much at once into it

I don't believe it's the "final" mission for Atlantis. Indeed, the description provided for this patch on the link uses the word, "penultimate", which means "next to the last". Atlantis is currently scheduled to fly also for STS-132. And if we really want to keep our fingers crossed, it would also fly on STS-135, a mission which is neither yet official nor funded from what I can surmise.

At what point did I indicate that this was Atlantis' mission? I merely stated the patch had the right look for the final shuttle mission.

STS-135 is the LON for STS-134 in planning right now, and even if that is flown it is not necessarily Atlantis that will be used since there is also talk of retiring one of the orbiters for an extension.

We can be a group of two, then. Just doesn't fit for me...
My all time favorite is STS-115, and I've not really seen any that come close to beating it. This is kind of near the bottom for me.

The design within the shape of the patch is quite good, though perhaps a bit busy. Might not look so good on an embroidered patch which will have less resolution. Personally I think it looks like two patches stuck together and perhaps an oval shape would have been better.
One of my favourites is still 41-B.

I don't know what you guys are talking about when you say it's too complex. This is gorgeous.

Hey folks -
As one of the guys who designed this patch, I want to thank all of you for your feedback. This was a fun project because Jorge and I were caught up in the enthusiasm from the crew.
While it is 180 degrees away from 127 - all of the design elements in this patch were important to the crew. In fact they had to get special permission because the embroidered patch will be about 5.75" high.
Love it or hate it but thanks for talking about it.

I was wondering when about it should be anticipated that the STS-129 crew photo will be released? Also, about how long does it take for a mission patch to be designed and should we be expecting any mission patches soon for STS-130 onwards? Another question (sorry I have a few) will we be finding out the STS-133 and STS-134 crews in the near future? And my final question, how long does it usually take after announcing a new group for a group photo as well as individual NASA photos to be released?
Thanks a million!

I agree with Tim... Love it or hate it but thanks for talking about it.
At last we spent many months along with the crew making something THEY (and us) love. And it was funny.
