Played back and they said 5 miles north of the port - I'm not sure exactly where that places it but a search of
http://sua.faa.gov/sua/mapsua.do shows pretty wide coverage for no-fly below 7000ft.
One officer did have an eyeball on it and never saw any turn towards land, it continued straight south.

What part of the Hubble payload was a concern?
It wasn't the payload. It was an EVA tether that runs the length of the payload bay.

Yes, and I'll write it up in the next article (after the one that's just gone on) but I believe SM is talking about the keel fittings, not the tether for PLBD closure. Will check it out, don't think it was anything big.
