Pardon me if this has been asked already, but do we have any Execute Packages yet?

Execute Packages are done by the overnight Planning shift team and uplinked to the crew shortly after the wake-up call has been sent.

And that isn't for another couple of hours. So, no, no Execute Packages yet.

Not yet, but NASA has been very consistent in their naming over the last few missions so you can expect to see them at http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts119/news/execute_packages.html shortly.

Todays summary timeline.

Note: This one is from the FLT_PLN document, I'll check for changes when the one in the Execute Package is avaiable and replace as necessary.

Upd: Now replaced with updated timelines from Execute Package.

No issues during ascent from what we can see so far, and only two MER issues (one was the helium issue that was fixed at the pad, and the other being a Fuel Cell issue).

Will all be included in the FD2 article.

Crew wake up in 25 mins or so.

According to NASA TV commentary sometime before 6 am EDT and awaiting further analysis and confirmation the Cosmos debris is believed to miss ISS at a safe distance; that would mean no change to ISS and Shuttle flight paths.

Leroy Cain: MMT met today and we have no major problems. Discovery performed flawlessly during launch and ascent phrase. We have a few minor anomalies, which we sometimes class as funnies. None of which are significant.

ISS are tracking an object which we are watching very carefully. More data this afternoon in case they need to do a DAM. If they need to DAM, shuttle will avoid RNDZ.

Prelim data indicts very clean ascent, so no concerns there.

Flow Control Valves performed nominally. No indications of any issues there.

Summary, shuttle performance was outstanding. Very excited about docking tomorrow.

Seconds or minutes would be the difference to Shuttle RNDZ if ISS has to DAM out of the way of the object being watched.

Currently the object is green as far as not needing to avoid it, but they are waiting on some additional data.

Leroy on how big the object is compared to the debris from last week. "It's bigger than a breadbox, smaller than a car" :) More details at the MSB later.

DAT expected to be complete with their work around the evening of FD3/Early FD4 with respect to needing a Focused Inspection (or not).

And that's it.

nose came out funny due to lighting

There's one black tile (?) in the ring of tiles three rows back from the nosecap that seems to be casting a much larger shadow than the others in that image.

Looks like it to me too.  Ahead of the forward starboard RCS.

Looks like that tile is "rotated" some degrees. The front looks lower and the aft higher compared to the surrounding tiles (especially the one to the right).

Granted I'm no imagery interpreter, but about two tiles down and one aft from the one I believe you are looking at I see has one that looks almost as if half the surface is chipped away or roughed up in some way.  It's hard to tell with the lighting angle amplifying tile effects, but extremely cool seeing the great stitchup of the whole surface like that!

Looks kind of like a carrier panel on the front edge of the FRCS module -- question is whether it's actually loose or just a bit tilted...

This thing is I'd have it drummed into my head that the survey images seen via NASA TV can be deceptive. Will obviously be looking out for any reports of it being of interest.

MSB on.

All going great. It's just as smooth as it gets. Ahead of schedule.

DAM is cancelled. It's outside of the box. Would have been a .5m a second burn if they had needed the DAM.

Mainly debris questions.

Paul Dye hadn't seen anything of interest with the survey, but noted it's not his main area of attention.

Hilighting the funny tiles...

Offline Chris Bergin

Certainly doesn't look normal, but I reckon we could do with another image from a slightly different angle to rule out shadowing etc. Nothing being flagged from what I can tell, so hopefully that isn't anything to worry about.

We'll get a good look via DAT, maybe tomorrow.

Is the location of that little spot consistent with one of the WLE IDS trip locations?  I can't easily make out what RCC panel that is on.

It's either panel 6L or 7L, wh just happens to be two of the three left wing panels that registered indications during ascent.

Here's the slide to help from the presentation on L2. Note the triggers were very light, so really want us all to avoid making a big deal out of these survey images.

That second image from Ron looked an awful lot more like poo than a nick.  I'd also venture to guess that any ding or gouge on the RCC panels would be a dark pit and not a white pit like we'd see on the TPS tiles (thinking back to the imagery when they blew a hole in the test mockup).  Disovery might just need a good bath  :)

Indeed, I am not worried but it is intellectually stimulating to be an arm chair imagery analysis.

Just watched the flight days 1/2 film from the crew, and it was great to see CDR Antonelli receiving his Naval Astonaut wings.  Earining a new warfare insignia is a big milestone for any Naval officer's career, and none greater than astonaut wings.

in the FD 2 Highlights, at 17:55, during the OMS burn, they noted (and you can see) the tail leading edges glowing read. Is that because they are still low enough to encounter atmospheric heating effects? I would have thought they were too high for that.

Earining a new warfare insignia is a big milestone for any Naval officer's career,

For me, It was just another PITA insignia that you had to deal with for official photos and dress uniforms.   ;)    I liked the option where only rank and name were required on non dress uniforms.  Then again, there were times I didn't wear any uniform at all.  The space field was unique.

Different services, different career fields, different traditions, etc

Understandable, Jim, my working uniform for most of my Navy career were "wash khakis" which required the wearing of my Surface Warfare Office pin.  I liked wearing my pin on that uniform, despite the pain of moving it from one shirt to another every day, since I could get sea spray into the cracks and creavases making me, literally, a salty SWO.  I wore that same pin for eightteen years (from the time I earned it until the day I retired).
