STS-126: Viewing (Going to the Launch etc.)
« on: 09/16/2008 08:01 pm »
Any idea when the STS 126 launch tickets will go on sale?

(Edit, may as well make this the viewing thread to keep everything in one place - Chris).

A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism.

Going to this Launch {Fingers crossed} Would love to get a ticket to view from inside KSC but if not any suggestions for the best outside view?

Looks like I'll be going to this launch.

I had e-mailed my congressman back in April to get tickets to a launch in October.  He came through and got me the VIP tickets for STS-125.  Since it's now moved to, like, February, I got an email from NASA asking if I would like to attend this one instead.  Either way, it'll be a plane ticket, so I figured...what the heck!

Looking forward to the launch!

STS-117?  (This time the answer isn't in the filename ;)     )

How does (did?) it work to get tickets from your congressman?  I contacted mine about getting tickets to STS-126 or a future launch but was told they're not doing that program anymore.

How much better is the view from the VIP area than the Causeway?

What are the chances this launch will be rescheduled for the 14th instead of the 16th. I have a flight booked from Ireland for the 15th.

Tough call, as the 16th was based on tight crew loading. Still is tight, but they've set in some proceedures (where they work through some extra days) to help improve. Remember, they want to aim for as early as possible with this window ending on the 25th. So they'll do all that is possible to get to the 14th, which is the official current NET (the PAO release is based on the previous NET).

We'll update as we go.

I'll take this one. As far as I'm concerned, yes the 'get together to eat and talk the day before launch' is still on.  I'll gladly coordinate this as I live in Daytona and it's no problem to get down to Titusville two days in a row.

To anyone interested in attending, just send me a PM and I'll start putting a plan together! :)

I see the PAO for this launch will be Candrea Thomas. That is a new name. I assume she is female. ;) If so she will be only the second woman to do commentary for a manned space flight.

I should keep my eye on when tickets go on sale for launch since I hope to be at this one. If I do not get a pass from my senator I will try to have a back up. If the pass comes through I might have a ticket to give away. We shall see. I hope a target launch date is announced soon so I can make some firm plans.

I live in Tampa Florida for 13 years my lifetime and have been to KSC 4 times and I know teachers get into KSC free but do they gat any deals on launches?

My next question is does anybody know if there is a plain launch ticket WITHOUT the whole visitor complex ticket and every thing like that. I just want the closest ticket but I don't need a ticket for the Visitor complex because I just went in August. ;)

Thanks
