Might be worth a train ride into the People's Republic of Bradford. I'll phone up tomorrow and see how many places are remaining.

Changed the title (Keighley is pretty much Bradford/Huddersfield). We've got a fair few Yorkshire/Northerners on here, so let's see who's up for this.

And on the off chance there's someone from Bradford here....can you get to Bradford Interchange from Leeds Station? Easy walking distance if so :)

Might?  :P

Mike Lopez-Alegria came to my town, and it was incredible.  He talked about the aspects of his Shuttle launch, Soyuz launch, and Long Duration Flight aboard the ISS.  You should definitely go if you get the chance!

yeah its under 30 mins on the train, and they run frequently. Where do you live Chris?

Phoned up and booked my place!  It's going to be a bit of a lengthy train ride from the Midlands but definitely worth it!   ;D

What a shame I'm back at school!

I probably wouldn't have been able to get there anyway as both places are about the same distance apart from me (I live in Rugby, so it would take me a while just to get there!)

Never mind...

Some pictures from the Bradford event.

Mike Fossum and Akihiko Hoshide were at Bradford University on a separate event.

They arrived at Bradford College after an event with 5000 kids at Odsal stadium !!

Thanks to all concerned, and NSF for the heads up !!!

When did you take the last picture? Before or after they had done the talk? Was a great presentation

That was afterwards.

They had some form of presentation in the car park. Didn't last long though....

I was there too!  I got all their autographs, definitely worth travelling four hours and three trains in each direction.  I was sorry not to meet Aki Hoshide and Mike Fossum, but I was (and still am) so happy to meet the rest of the crew.

All the way home I looked like this smiley here ;D

Hi Folks,
New on Site, I like what I have seen.

Went to Bradford College Thursday, met Neville K and Rob W. Had a great time meeting the crew of STS-124. There were pleanty of 'spaces' so to speak
Regards all

Martin

PS I live in York so Bradford been only  'next door' would have been a crime not to go

I was surprised to see so many people from companies there, and also how little they knew about the shuttle program. I got talking to one women and she didnt know anything about it. Didnt know they launched shuttles every few months, didnt know how many they had roughly launched or anything like that.

i was thinking the audience would all be space geeks like me, but seems not
