Not one of the best IMO... but certainly the mission that I've been waiting for years...

finally the ISS will have the ITA complete...

Sorry for the error guys... :)

When I first began assembling a scale model of the ISS for my senior high school project (about 6 years ago), my references always used ITA (yup, ShuttleDiscovery's right - Integrated Truss Assembly) when it comes to the truss structures... It kinda stuck with me ever since, even though the official term was changed from ITA to ITS (Integrated Truss Structure) shortly after...

Anyway, thanks for pointing that one out, and I'll use ITS from now on... ;D

I can't help but absolutely dislike that one. I am sorry. It looks amateurish. Of course I guess that a lot of design work went into this and all the other patches, but the STS-119 emblem just doesn't look right.

I loved the STS-125 patch though -- many did not seem to like it.

Remember guys, the patch can have Sam the Dog on it, but it won't change the mission. The patch may not be the best, but this mission is a very important mission;

I've seen the actual patch and this picture does not show it well. It looks much better in reality. The colors are brighter and have better hues.

And for some explanation on the design itself: There are 17 stars on the patch for the 17 fallen astronauts. The astronaut symbol coming out of the station represents the completion of the station and moving on to a new era. And for all of you complaining about the appearance of the station, it is very difficult to get a lot of detail and effects into it when you are being restricted by technical limitations of the manufacturing process.

Remember, the mission is what matters.

Absolutely. I'm amazed by the reaction to what is a patch after all. Not exactly important.

Of course you are both correct.  However, I have a hard time viewing any logos or patches or anything design related without throwing a critical eye to it.  I think it comes from my background in graphic design.  ;)

"17 stars on the patch representing the 17 fallen astronauts"

The meaning is much more important than the visual...IMO

This is the first time I've commented on a crew patch, I think it looks ok.

I'm fine with how the patch looks. As long as the crew is satisfied I won't complain. It's their flight, and if this is what they want to represent their flight I don't see how I can complain about it.

The mission and the people involved is what's important, anyway. The crew patch won't have anything to say in the success of the flight.

Its... Ok... But like 125 it just seems like it could have been better. However a patch is a patch....
