@virgingalactic: SS2’s pilots have just given the “release” command, and SpaceShipTwo is now flying freely for the 26th time. Photos and more details to come

I'd hazard to guess judging that they were tracking it going straight down instead of forward (meaning it was losing altitude quick) that it was SS2.
