STS-124: Landing Weather Thread

Going to get this running so we can avoid cluttering our Flight Day 15 thread in the morning.

All weather is forecast 'go' for Discovery's return to Earth tomorrow morning, but if anyone has updates to post/check, please place them here.

This weekend has KSC landing attempts only.  Edwards will be activated Sunday if both attempts today are waived off.  Landing must occur by Tuesday at the latest.

Current NWS forecast:

Overnight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 76. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming east between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.



Update: No forecast of isolated showers and thunderstorms between 8am and 1pm.

If landing should be postponed to sunday the conditions are:

KSC:

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming east between 5 and 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. South southeast wind around 5 mph.

Edwards:

Sunday: Sunny. Highs 94 to 104. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear. Lows 61 to 71. West winds 10 to 20 mph.

Monday.  They will only make attempts to land at KSC today and tomorrow.

Hopefully this will be one of those days where Rob can just be on his honeymoon and weather is not a factor.

For reference sake, though, those forecasts are too general for a shuttle approach and landing.  The official forecasts come out of the Spaceflight Meteorology Group:
