APU really sound loud.  Must have a microphone close to the runway.
Yes.  Done on pretty much all the KSC landings.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, in a land far, far away, I used to live in F-100 Super Sabers. To this day I still maintain that those were the prettiest, sexiest birds to ever grace the skies of earth. But I have to tell you that nothing takes my breath away like the sight of this Shuttle. My heart beats so loud I can hear it and my eyes tear up every time I watch her fly. She is just so beautiful!

ISS Reactions by Greg Chamitoff:  Houston, what an awesome sight to see the Shuttle land here on the ISS.  Spectacular mission from start to end.  We have a new hope (Kibo) on the ISS.  Very pretty landing.

MCC-H: Yes, very pretty landing, you guys enjoy Kibo.  Before you know it, you'll be catching your own ride home.

That was probably a piece or pieces of the drag chute door.

Great mission, and great coverage on NSF. Well done NASA, as well as the NSF team.

Typical of the BBC. Their headline reads " Shuttle lands despite losing clip", despite it being a very clean mission.

Looks like the ET doors are open.
Allow subject to scream. In space no one will hear.

Yup, just replayed it and it came out exactly the same time as the drag chute door flew off.

How long do the APU's vent?

Until they get turned off, after all the orbiter's functions that use them are complete.

Until they turn them off..they are still running. Needed for hydraulic pressure for MPS engine repositioning and ET door opening.
Allow subject to scream. In space no one will hear.
