Aki taking some pics, must be one heck of a view.

Nope, wasn't Aki after all   ::) It's Mike Fossum

Really good views inside this end of Kibo, with the airlock and windows.

(Good additions Adam! :) )

There was a mention on the loop about the upcoming PAO event, where they want the Earth in the backdrop of the camera's field of view. Could be very interesting!

Also references to what I believe is a "40 minute" task for Port SARJ evaluations by Mike Fossum on EVA-3 tomorrow.

PAO events coming up in 30 minutes. Sounds like the first round will be local stations (to the astronauts) so hopefully we'll be avoiding toilet questions.

EVA-3 tag-up.

Option 1 seems favored: "If you are 30 minutes ahead when you're cleaning up at P3, and Ron is ok, we'll break you ahead at that time to go down and do Port SARJ inspection. Then you'll be right back on a nominal timeline when you've finished with SARJ."

Budgeting 15 minutes for photos.

Flags going up for the PAO event:

They also want photos of as many areas under cover 2. Race Ring will be in a different position than it was during the first inspection.

Mike will use that special tape, last seen when they collected samples of 1505 Nitride material from a previous SARJ inspection (STS-122 I think). Grabbed an image of the tape from an L2 doc...

Maybe not so local, cause it's Miles from CNN.

Good stuff on the opening question about the main element of this mission being about Kibo and no mention of the toilet.

Interviews on now!  What kind of hat is CDR Kelly wearing?  Looks Navy related.
<----First launch of DISCOVERY, STS-41D!!!!

Miles mentions Garrett during ingress (with the swimming).

"It was a desperate attempt at a backstroke." :)

"You could get stuck in the middle cause it's so big."

Miles is 3 for 3 on very good questions. Asking Mike Fossum about what it's like on an EVA.

"We had a sunrise come up and seeing the white sun push up and hit you in the face in a few seconds was pretty unique."

Miles asking about the Port SARJ:

"I don't believe it looks like the starboard side with the metal shavings. It looks like a little bit of grease, which is no surprise.

"This plan is changing by the hour. We'll collect some samples with some tape, but it looks like it's in good shape."

Aki had a nice way of describing Kibo - "we have our own house up here now"

Offline Chris Bergin

Miles asks Aki about what Kibo means to Japan.

"It's a big milestone. We have our own house here now."

Miles asks Commander Kelly about his wife and thoughts about the risks of launches etc.

"Discovery was in great shape at the pad and contines to be on mission."

Awesome interviewing from Miles.

Fluffy, but nothing dodgy, questions from a local TV station that followed. She seems a bit nervous...asking about horse racing!?

"Awesome" x3 ;)

A North Dakota station on now.

"The week has gone way too fast. The ride up was incredible, not as rough as I thought it would be. Floating around in micro g is incredible" - Karen.

Question about influence on kids.

"Hopefully they are being inspired to accomplish things in life."

That was a pretty good set of questions for a local station.

PAO event over. Commander Kelly: "Just as the sun is coming up. All that work for nothing!"
