hmm, you could clearly see 4 or 5 white pieces fall of the orbiter right after lift off.

OK, the left upper camera showed a lot more of the white pieces fall off.

Tyvek? Sorry I'm not so familiar with the specific terms
but they looked flexible strips, not tiles or so.
