Planned Flight Day 6 activities:

(All times are eastern)

- EVA 2 preparations (7:12am)
- Japanese module outfitting and rack transfer from logistics module to
pressurized module (8:47am)
- EVA 2 by Fossum and Garan (11:32am)

Duration : 6 hours, 30 minutes
EVA operations:
- Installation of forward and aft Japanese television
equipment on Kibo (12:07pm)
- Prepare the Japanese module’s robotic arm
for deployment/Removal of JEM RMS cover and end effector
MLI cover (12:57pm)
- Prepare the active common berthing mechanism on the Kibo
laboratory for the installation of a smaller part of the module
delivered during STS-123

- JPM channel A activation (1:27pm)
- Harmony zenith berthing port preparation (1:57pm)

EVA operations:
- Installation of JEM-PM trunnion and keel covers (2:22pm)
- Prepare a depleted nitrogen tank assembly on the
starboard truss for removal and a new one stowed on an
external stowage platform on the port truss for installation
(3:02pm)

- JLP egress and hatch closure (3:57pm)

EVA operations:
- Remove a television camera with a failing power supply
(4:32pm)

- Japanese module robotic arm console setup
- Harmony zenith berthing port control panel assembly installation
(5:12pm)
- EVA 2 ends (6:02pm)

From the execute package I note that there is an anomaly with the OBSS's sensor package

The OBSS Sensor Package 2 LCS experienced an erratic position sensor for the Y
galvanometer during Area Scan 12. The Y-galvo is used to position one of two
mirrors required to perform Area and Line scans. The X galvo looks OK. The team
is working to determine if the Y galvo anomaly will preclude acquisition of quality
LCS data, should LCS be required. This LCS anomaly does not affect the planned
FD12 OBSS Inspection.

I've written in the past about the critical importance of the big doorways in the CBM's to the success of the ISS design, and I'm always interested in good shots of BIG stuff like racks being carefully passed through these doorways. If anybody catches such views today that dramatically illustrate this concept, and can share them via posting or direct email ([email protected]), I'd appreciate it for future use when I again sing the praises of key ISS design features that are often overlooked. Thanks!
