Good call.  Lots of those saying they "definitely" saw something really don't know what they saw. It'll be a good news story for someone though.

I'm guessing all will be well with Discovery.  Have faith.

I got a couple of images. Looks like a foam separation from the ET, struck the orbiter under the starboard wing. However, let the experts decide this.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how they get it done.

Great ascent.

MCC go to LOAD on board targets OMS 2 targets. Also MCC go to MNVR (which is to orientate the Orbiter into the correct burn attitude).

Great launch! As smooth as the whole countdown. :) Hoping to get a closer look at the debris-event on the replays.

I just watched a replay.  Debris definitely struck the starboard side over the orbiter.

Dumbass CNN - head story now 'FOAM HITS SHUTTLE.'  They're replaying the moment around T+3 minutes that shows the foam impact over and over again.  Golden footage for American media.

There's some great personal viewpoints. Might be worth a new thread (ok in here for now, but hold on to them for a new thread later today).

Don't think that's normal...... that's a gate to the holding tanks. The water pipe beside it has burst.

Did anyone catch that piece of debris that fell off the tank and hit the bottom of the shuttle? It was recorded live on video.

I've replayed the ~3:30 foam event from my TiVo several times watching the feed from Fox News. It looked to me like a piece of foam came off (from the Camera POV) from the left side of the camera and just below it. What seemed to be another piece of debris from the right side of the camera looks more like a shadow cast from the first piece. (It tumbles IDENTICALLY to the first piece)

I didn't see any debris events shortly after SRB sep, but they switched to a ground camera at that time.

I replayed the Negative return event several times but can't really tell much other than it seemed to come off from somewhere near the level of the forward bipod.

It happened passed the 2m15s point and is thus of no consqeunce.  Of course the American media is already having a field day with it.

I am not too concerned. The debris I saw didn't impact very hard. I am sure it is nothing that will be a problem.

This stuff happens all the time. It is only much more visible now because we are specifically looking for it.
