I'm in my hotel room in Titusville, just waiting until it's time to go out to KSC. A mixture of jetlag and excitement means I was up early. I can't imagine how the astronauts must be feeling right now, but I'm sure they'd be awake early too ;)

Good Luck Discovery. Looking forward to seeing you fly this afternoon.

Bruce, you are suffering in the same way I am, also awake from 5am in my Titusville hotel room. Have a great trip out to KSC today - see you there with 5000 others!

My best wishes to the teams and the crew for a safe and successful mission, and here's hoping the tank mods perform as-advertised.

Amazing launch. :)

How did the send off go at booster ignition, I can't remember.

Also what is the wake up music chosen for this mission?

Great launch for Discovery. Big Congrats to all the teams on the ground who prepared her. Can't wait to see STS-125 launch (fingers crossed...live in person).

Great flight so far!  I had a thought that just occurred to me, and I figure this is as good a place as any to post it, since it is cheerleading:

One year ago today I was at the KSC Visitor Center to watch STS-117 lift off just before sunset.  One of the pictures I took of it is my avatar.

In the year since, counting STS-117, we have had six shuttle flights.  There have been three truss elements (S3/S4, S5, P6) added or moved to their final location, as well as four new pressurized modules (Harmony, Columbus, JLP, Kibo) and the Canada Hand (Dextre) added to ISS.  When Atlantis docked to ISS in June 2007, the station was very different than it is now.

The ISS has come a very long way.  Congratulations!

I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.
