Here's to wishing a wonderful trip for Discovery and her crew running around in circles of radius 6700 km (or thereabouts). ;)

So, you're login name is NavySpaceFan, your location is Norfolk, VA (the biggest Navy town in the U.S.), and you know that STS-124's CDR and PLT are both Navy.  Just a hunch, is there a pro-Navy bias here?

Disclosure: I proudly served in the Navy right out of high school. Go Navy! :)

Not entirely sure this is the right place, but since some people have been asking for a while now about the looming deadling vs. flight rate of the shuttle I just thought this was a good place/time to remind everyone that when Discovery launches this weekend it will be NASA's 6th Shuttle mission in the ONE YEAR time span from STS-117 on June 8, 2007. SIX flights in one year... that's something to celebrate and remember for the future when this flight rate argument comes up again!

Cheers! And God speed Discovery.  :D

Discovery,

You better go up on the 31st, as if you do, I can see docking.  If you don't, please go up on Tuesday, June 2nd, as I could see docking then.  Any other days are not good for me.

Thanks!
-Steven

(LOL!  In all truthfulness, go up whenever you can, Discovery.  Godspeed.  I'll be here to watch, as well as millions of others.)

Yay, Discovery!

My kids have made their mission t-shirts and we're ready. This will be our third launch in a row and we'll be at the causeway. I'm beside myself and already can't sleep from excitement!

Best of luck to the crew and ground control, you all ROCK!

I'm in my hotel room in Titusville, just waiting until it's time to go out to KSC. A mixture of jetlag and excitement means I was up early. I can't imagine how the astronauts must be feeling right now, but I'm sure they'd be awake early too ;)

Good Luck Discovery. Looking forward to seeing you fly this afternoon.

Amazing launch. :)

How did the send off go at booster ignition, I can't remember.

Also what is the wake up music chosen for this mission?

Great flight so far!  I had a thought that just occurred to me, and I figure this is as good a place as any to post it, since it is cheerleading:

One year ago today I was at the KSC Visitor Center to watch STS-117 lift off just before sunset.  One of the pictures I took of it is my avatar.

In the year since, counting STS-117, we have had six shuttle flights.  There have been three truss elements (S3/S4, S5, P6) added or moved to their final location, as well as four new pressurized modules (Harmony, Columbus, JLP, Kibo) and the Canada Hand (Dextre) added to ISS.  When Atlantis docked to ISS in June 2007, the station was very different than it is now.

The ISS has come a very long way.  Congratulations!

I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.
