Here in the US, we are in Daylight Saving Time, so that's an hour different -- 9am EDT.

Okay, so my parents have agreed that a trip to see STS-124 launch will be my graduation present as I graduate just a couple of weeks before the launch.  Now a question.  If we DO NOT purchase the tickets from NASA and watch from Titusville, is it still worth our time to even go.  What I am trying to ask is it still very impressive?  Do you still hear at least some of the sound of the launch and all that? Tickets go on sale tomorrow and I would like to know if anyone can tell me. Thanks in advance.

Eh .. one thing I would have liked to take with me when I did the STS-117 launch was some bug spray if you are visiting early in the day..  KSC is worse than Georgian bay for bugs and that says a lot..

Michael, Titusville offers a very good view and sound of the launch.
What's even better than viewing from the Visitor Center is that you can actually see it on the pad.
To see and hear what it is like, check out a few "youtube videos" (Shuttle as seen from Titusville)
Congratulations on your graduation!

Thanks TJL! My dad is going to try to get two of the tickets for the NASA Causeway and if he cannot, this makes me feel better about Titusville.  Thanks for your help!  :)

Titusville is impressive.  Heck yes, it's worth it.  If you've never seen a launch (as I hadn't when I saw 118 from Titusville), you'll be amazed.

Almost equally impressive (but not quite ;) ) is how many people go to Titusville for the launch...I've never seen so many people cram into a town like that.

!

That happened to me last time! I cannot believe it. I even tried (for STS-123) buying online WHILE I was calling on the phone too - still did not get the tickets. I'm trying to get tickets (STS-124) via congress person and if it doesn't work out we'll watch from Titusville and just be thrilled to be there. It's the closest I can get to being 5 years old again - and get that high knowing Christmas is tomorrow & am absolutely sure that Santa, the easter bunny, and the toothfairy are the real deal.

Is it good that an aide from MN senator Norm Coleman emailed me and asked if I was still interested in VIP tickets for STS-124 and he asked for the names of the people attending and a mailing address?  Does that mean I got the VIP tickets?

If it happened to me - I certainly wouldn't consider that to be bad news...

Heh - I'm from Northern Alberta, I doubt they'd be anything I would be concerned about (unless they have malaria or something!)

That said, I will be there in the AM so I'll slather up with some before I go. Thanks for the tip!

I just received a call from our Senator's office & I'm SO EXCITED to say that we were granted congressional passes for launch viewing and to be looking in the mail for those next week!!!!  :)

I was starting to sweat it because I purchased the plane tickets yesterday & all travel arrangements are set. Had we not gotten the passes we'd still have gone to watch from Titusville... and be quite happy to just be there.

So if you are waiting for "the call" - Make sure you check your voicemail :) Sounds like they are starting the calls to those that were granted tickets.

Fingers crossed for the rest of you on the list seeking those tickets!! Have a super day, I already am! :

Are you making another trip stateside?!? Wow, that's great! (addict ;) )

I'd contact them for (hopefully) accurate information. You'd think they'd at least limit the tours - where they go & when. Here is the contact page (listing phone numbers or to contact by email).

Hi!

I would like to see the rollover and take pictures. How long takes the rollover? Do you think could be useful take the Up Close tour  during the rollover.  Could you help me with a good tip for that day?

 Thanks Armando.
