media credential question
« on: 03/10/2008 05:12 pm »
I am a member of a student newspaper and would like to know if NASA would issued credentials to me.  Would I be able to bring a guest to see the launch?

1) Possibly, go to the website and apply and the worst that will happen is they say no.

2) No.

I'm wondering about this as well, but in case this is possible I'll represent the Norwegian Astronautical Society that makes a magazine that's issued all over the country. Do you think NASA would issue credentials for me?

Again - can't hurt to try. For a foreign agency it might be more difficult, but the worst that can happen is they tell you no.

NASA has issued credentials to me in the past, even though I'm only a free-lance writer with modest journalism credentials (mostly I write science fiction stories). Once to STS-1, and once to JPL for Voyager Neptune encounter. My guess is, if the request is made by the school, it should be okay. In my case, the request was through my literary agency.

has anyone got an email from Chris Bergen the creator of this website for other reasons except for password/account stuff? Cause i wrote him a couple of emails saying that i was interested in writing for this website for the STS portion of the site and have not got a response back.  Chris if you are reading this, i'd really like to be a writer for this site cause i know a lot about the Shuttle program and i am going to see a shuttle launch at the end of may.

I'm not sure why a playwright would need to cover a launch - but I will yet again tell you:

We are not NASA Media Services. Apply for it, and be truthful (it's a government website and many times reminds you that any false information is a bad bad thing.) If they accept, then you are good. If they don't, then you get a rejection note.

I am trying to use every source I can to make sure I get to see 124's launch.  On another note, has anyone requested launch tickets through their senator/representative?
