I'll be in the KSC area next week. Will I be able to get on-site at KSC to see the launch with my JSC badge (on non-launch days I can) or do I need a Causeway pass? If I don't need it to get on-site, is there an advantage to having the Causeway pass?
I would think this has been asked and answered before, but I've searched for a couple of days and didn't come up with anything that appeared current. My apologies if it has.

I don't know if this has been said anywhere yet, but I thought I'd let everyone know that there is going to be a one-hour special on STS-125 on the Science Channel at 1:00 PM May 11th, and it concludes with the launch live. I thought that was pretty cool. I haven't seen too many full specials on a single current mission before. I will be down there at the Cape for this launch (woohoo!!!!) so I'm definitely setting my DVR for the special on the Science Channel. That will be a nice little treat for my return home after a long drive!
That's cool. Will they have it in HD?
Yes - I have Directv HD and 'Hubble Live: The Final Mission' on DTV channel 284-1 will be in HD (if you have an HD receiver).

If anybody is doing the Cape Canaveral Then and Now tour on Sunday at 12:50, I'll be there. I'll be the long-haired 21-year-old kid probably wearing an STS-126 Endeavour shirt.

Leaving Oklahoma shortly for our road trip to KSC. I didn't contact anyone about any of the get-togethers and whatnot there, but if you see a guy in a gray ultralight wheelchair on the causeway, feel free to introduce yourself.

Let's hope the weather holds!

For those who are trying for some night shots, do you mind trying for some HDR (high dynamic range) shots? I have a program that can combine them, but can't make it that early. Thanks!

Hi, my father and I have Congressional VIP passes to STS-125 launch this Monday.
This will be odd for me, having watched every launch up to STS-51L from our front yard in Merritt Island. Our itenerary has us on a bus from Merritt Square Mall to the Causeway veiwing site.
Is there a difference between this pass vs. a traditional causeway passs or LTT viewing?
Anybody with prior experience with the Congressional VIP viewing, what should we expect?

I'll also be in the Congressional area on the causeway with my sister and her husband. I'll be the first time I've seen anything bigger than an Estes model rocket launch live !
I'm flying into Orlando Sunday morning.

Hi Bob! How did you get your passes? You will enjoy the launch, something you'll never forget as long as you live. See you there!

I wont be able to make it for this launch but I will be there for STS128. I hope some others from NSF will also be there so I have the opportunity to meet some of you.
For those who will be there this time - enjoy the launch!!

STS-128 you say? I'm hoping to be at that one.
Will depend on two things - (1) It doesn't slip into the last week and a half of the month, and (2) I can get causeway tickets.

Yep - "Hubble: Live" - add an element of danger (i.e. not going to the ISS) and the media are all over it...

Arrived in Merritt Island in one piece. So surreal here, looking out the front yard of my neighbor's to the other front yard where I watched dozens of launches in my youth.
Off to bed now.... we've got to catch the early train for liftoff...ZZZzzzzzzzzzz.
To the Scots and Irishmen in town on the tube, Cheers!
