Well, there would still be views of the spacewalkers from the RMS cameras as well as the payload bay cameras.
As far as actually being able to see NASA-TV coverage while in the area goes....there's TV coverage at the KSC VC as I recall, I remember watching the ET Sep of STS-117 in a room next to the ET-SRB exhibit. I imagine I'll be spending quite a bit of time in there when they do the OBSS inspections or the HST rendezvous....but I'm interested in where else I could watch it. I do have an older laptop but I'm not sure I want to bring it, though I may reconsider as my motel has WI-FI....I also have my Blackberry Storm, if I can figure out how to watch NASA TV on it that would be great.
Again I ask, is there any "sports bar" type place in the Titusville area that always shows NASA TV during missions?

Taking this thread title in its widest sence, and given that there won't be views of the EVAs from station based cameras; how good can we expect the coverage of STS 125 to be?
Fine. All the action is taking place in the payload bay and there is an equal or higher "density" of cameras there than most places on the station.

Great!! Really looking forward to this one.

My mate's in Florida with his kids at the time Atlantis should be landing. Is there much to see and, if so, where is it best viewed from?

Well, I think you can hear the sonic booms from the KSC VC and the Titusville area, though I'm not sure as I've only seen landings in California. But I've heard that the KSC Shuttle landing strip doesn't have a viewing facility - is this true?
As for other spots in Florida (Orlando, Tampa, Miami) I'm not sure about the sonic booms, I think you'd have to view the descending orbiter through binoculars and it would be pretty high still.
I'm pretty sure the only way I'll ever be in position to see a landing at KSC is if STS-125 (or a future mission) had to do an RTLS abort.

I called the NPS and they told me playalinda beach closes Thursday at 6 pm.
Also, Bubbinski, I live in South Florida and when the shuttle lands you can definately hear the sonic boom. Just watch any cable news channel and when the shuttle nears Florida, go outside and you will hear it and it's pretty loud too!

Not a public viewing facility. Heard the sonic booms in Titusville when STS-93 landed...that was also a 28.5 mission.

You can hear the booms without necessarily seeing the vehicle, but the ground track is important.
I'm pretty sure the only way I'll ever be in position to see a landing at KSC is if STS-125 (or a future mission) had to do an RTLS abort.
Maybe; in a hypothetical RTLS, the vehicle would be approaching KSC from out over the Atlantic -- from the NE or the East. That would be a big difference from re-entries where vehicle is approaching from the west, northwest, or southwest...

Too early to be worrying about weather forecasts that far away.

Also remember one nice thing about this flight is that there's a 60 minute window as opposed to your usual 5-10 minute window for ISS flights. So if there's a weather or technical issue there's more time for them to work the problem and wait for the weather to clear or devise a fix.

Hahaha...sorry, but that's one of the funnier things I've read today.
It's May 1 today, so May 11 is 10 days away. Too early to even start looking at the weather.
Also - regarding viewing a landing - not that I'll probably ever get to see one, but do they keep the road to Playalinda Beach open during a landing? That road passes right north of the SLF, and a landing on 15 would take the orbiter right overhead.

Unfortunately they close 406 on landing attempts since 9/11. The closest you can get to the final approach on 406 is about four miles. If they land on RW 33 the Visitors center is about two miles from the approach course.

FYI - as per the NASA spaceflight web site, ISS will be visible in the Titusville night sky (weather permitting of course) on Monday 5/11 at 8:44 pm (54 degrees high and from SW to NNE) and Tuesday 5/12 at 4:50 am (also 54 deg high, from E to SE). It'll be hard to miss.
I didn't see any shuttle or HST viewing info yet....Heavens Above isn't showing anything for HST during the week of May 11th. I hope the shuttle and HST will be visible as it'll be my only chance to see the two together.

Somebody please clarify this for me as I must be missing something. It is Saturday morning so I'm probably missing a few things. I was looking forward to seeing both Hubble and a rocket launch in the same week...but the Goes Delta 4 has been delayed to June. But still, we only have 3 attempts for shuttle (May11-13) before we have to stand down for the Eastern Range. I heard something about a military operation. Yet, I see nothing on the schedule showing any type of launch (even DoD launches show on schedule). And the kicker is this quote from the latest article - ""HST has the range through the 13th and then needs to stand down until at least the 20th (assuming a Delta Launch moves), noted Annette P. Hasbrook, Deputy Chief, Flight Director Office."" So, the question is, from May 14 on, should I be looking across the river waiting for a DoD mystery Delta launch (thats not showing up on any schedule) to rise out of the east???

From what I've heard as well (from KSC PAO) GOES-O is slipping.

One post in the Delta GOES thread by Anik mentioned a period from late June to late July, a later press release in that same thread mentioned NET May 20, and Spaceflightnow.com's launch schedule has it in June/July.

There's no such thing as a "mystery launch." Mystery payload, yes. Launch, no.
