Is that graphic for ISS launches or this one? I thought HST is closer to east than you show?

ChrisC,
STS-125 won't be heading up the east coast. It's orbit is in a lower inclination than the trips to the ISS, so we won't be seeing it from the NYC area. I've seen ISS and Shuttle Radar mission launches after SRB sep from the NYC area, so, you're right, it's doable.
I usually turn on a news channel like CNN to catch the launch. If you are not near a TV, WCBS or WINS news radio stations in NYC often cover it live.
If STS-126 was (still is?) a nighttime launch, we'll have the opportunity to see it.
I don't know of any public locations for viewing the launch video as it happens, but I'll post it if I find one.

This sure has been one heck of a roller coaster ride. Being that this was the 1st time I bought LLT's it has been a good learning experience on when to schedule travel plans after buying tickets.
After the Launch moved to the 14th I was going to have to change my travel plans, now that it moved to Feb+ I don't have to worry so much about it. I now have a better idea on how make travel plans. Hopefully I can make it in Feb.
I'm still heading to Cocoa Beach next week to have a good time, Maybe get some surfing in if the waves are any good.
Thanks for all the good advice & update this forum provides.

Hi all -
I've got a question about viewing the shuttle launch, but kind of the reverse of what this forum means by it.
I will be in Manhattan on the nights of the 14th and the 15th. I'm not sure if I'll have internet access, and certainly can't count on NASA TV on the hotel cable, so that safest thing for me to do would be to plan to watch the launch at some public location. I know that science museums sometimes have projection screens set up for this. Is anyone aware of something like this in New York? I've already searched a few NY museums (including AMNH / Hayden) and haven't found anything.
- Chris
P.S. I'm aware of the nighttime visibility up the coast ( http://a52.g.akamaitech.net/f/52/827/1d/www.space.com/images/061205_shuttle_vismap_02.jpg ), and if the skies are clear I'll be heading outside after SRB sep
Coming in late on this post, but I've seen MECO from my porch.. STS-116, actually. Be sure to have good binoculars or a nice telescope if you want a great shot.

The delay is unfortunate news but it is for all the right reasons. We will just have to keep hold of those tickets and keep our fingers crossed for February

Ouch! Duh, I knew that. Well, it's a moot point now anyway, at least for me and my October trip to NYC.

Jason - from what I have read, tickets are offered for sale about a month or so before the scheduled launch date.
There is a page at the Kennedy Space Centre website, where you can leave your details and they will send out an email a few days beforehand, letting you know the date and time of when the next launch tickets will be available for sale -
http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/eventSignUp.asp I must add, be sure to read the first few pages of this thread, too, to find some helpful hints about buying causeway tickets online.

Not sure if anyone can clarify but I have heard mixed opinions on this.
Does anyone know what happens with the KSC tours during a rollout/rollback. I have heard that instead of the LC39 gantry the tour stops at the press site to offer a view. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks, Dave.

Now that STS-125 is delayed to spring (April/May timeframe) I'll have some time off saved from work and I'm planning a trip to see it.
I've watched two launches from KSC, the first one from the Astronaut Hall of Fame and the second from the KSC Visitor Center (next to the full size ET/SRB display I might add). But I wasn't that well versed on the best spots when I planned those trips, I'm looking into the causeway as well as watching from Titusville (there's one park I remember reading about that's supposed to be good).

Space View park, but it has no better of a view than anywhere in Titusville. It gets extremely crowded on launch days.

I've gotten the ball rolling on my plans to go see STS-125....I'm going to try and contact my congressman for tickets (the incumbent congressman got bounced out in the primary so he's a lame duck, so the new one won't be in place until January, so maybe I could try my senators instead). Does anyone have any useful advice on how to proceed with that?
If the congressional tickets don't come through I'll try to get the causeway tickets immediately after they're made available for the (presumably May) opportunity, but I understand you have to snap them up within 2 hours or else they'll be gone.
My Plan C will be Spaceview park or someplace similar, as I am wanting a view of the pad this time, no hiding behind trees. I should be fixed up okay for internet access through my cell phone but I don't have a scanner so I'll bring my AM radio. I remember seeing that there was an AM station in the area that carried the countdown, though I could hear it just fine from the many loudspeakers in the KSC VC when I was there.

NASA causeway (LTT) tickets for 125 are already sold out. So unless you can find someone who bought them for the Oct launch and can't use them for the rescheduled date you better hope for tickets from your Congressman or plan for Titusville.

Just so you don't get let down I figured I would tell you that they don't sell out with in 2 hours. They sell out in less than 2 minutes. You have to be quick with the typing when you are filling out your form.

Two minutes? Wow. I guess I'd need to really get good with typing then.
If they're not going to reissue STS-125 causeway tickets then I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the congressional tickets can come through. If for some reason STS-125 isn't doable....I'll try to make the Ares I-X test flight.

UK members, worth keeping an eye on this!
http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7705169.stmEven if it's to say New York (though they claim "Florida") adding a domestic flight to Orlando would work out a hell of a lot cheaper than the 500 quid ($1000) or so it currently is from Manchester and Heathrow.
"The transatlantic flights are likely to go from Stansted and Dublin airports to New York, Florida, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston."
Stansted's a joke to get to, but worth it if this comes through

Hi All,
I have 1 STS-125 LTT Causeway Ticket + lunch with astronaut for sale if anyone is interested. I figured it would be better appreciated here than on ebay. PM me with an offer if interested.
