and PLEASE no Columbus is doomed chatter in the live thread. Thanks!
As the usual proprietor of the "is doomed" chatter, I'll refrain....
On a more serious note, jsut how serious is this computer problem... If is something that will likely be fixed with a simple patch or is this more complex, and threatening to the mission, than that?
As long as the discussion is based on facts...great
but when that thread gets flooded with loads of wild guesses...it's basically a waste of time to read it

Confirming (nothing new):
* TPS is cleared for reentry
* New NTA is working fine
* Mission is extended by an additional day
* Good air quality in Columbus

They are currently attempting to reconfigure the computers to fix the anomaly. Will be picked up in the morning for activation.

Believe she said reconfig had been successful and the Columbus activation process could resume tomorrow (at least the bits depending on the computers) Crew also advised commanding to Columbus fixed.

Davis: "I alway characterize computer problems as 'typical' "
it seems they "got to the bottom of the problem fairly quickly"
Davis: "It's a software issue"
The computer issue did NOT contribute to the decision to extend the mission
Davis: "We know what caused the software glitch and we know how to fix it"
Delay of the activation is "less than 24hours"

Have they fixed the GPC problem on the shuttle? Not heard any mention of it recently

Davis, Jarvis and the CAPCOM have put this in the past tense, the problem is fixed. PAO says activation of Columbus has resumed.

When did they say the problem had been fixed. It wasn't during the briefing.

Peggy has just congratulated Sally Ride for achieving 400 hours (I think that was the number) in MCC.
CAPCOM: "Thanks, Peggy; Sally is really appreciative of your words and she's recieving a big round of applause around here"
Sally also gave Peggy as a birthday present a pair of bars-and-stripes socks she was wearing during yesterday's recorded ISS tour

Mmmmm... most certainly  I was reading the news when I overheard this and I suppose my head just went to the most familiar surname. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks guys for the update thread. Again I was too busy at work to keep up live today, so I just finished watching the FD highlights reel and reading along here. I just have a few comments which I'll pile all together:
Jorge, thank you for that excellent response about the stray video line in the camera feed (way back on page 1 or 2 of this thread). I had figured it was an errant VBI line that was in the video frame for some reason, and had noticed the "binary counter" behavior of it, but it's a testament to this site how I got to find out precisely what it is and why it's there.
Richard/sts1canada, thanks for your text updates. I actually prefer the text updates to the images, but I have a high quality feed of NASA TV up on a monitor on my desk all day so I don't need the screenshots

I can't overestimate how exciting and amazing it will be when NASA TV in HD launches in March, as it is rumored ...
eeergo, the word here yesterday on Peggy's stars-and-bars socks was that they were a gift from Shannon Lucid, not Sally Davis. Incorrect?
Thanks again everyone!
