Will there be a webcast of the upcoming GSLV launch? I seem to remember there was one for one of the PSLVs earlier in the year, but not the other. Is this likley to be broadcast?

Why aren't the Russians launching that themselves?
India is planning to use (or is already using) the GLONASS navigation system. Russia signed an agreement with India for the launch of two navigation sat's. Check
India To Use Russian GLONASS Navigation System - Minister (this from November 2005 news).
Also, and citing a ISRO web document in
here : "
Agreements have been signed with Russian Federation on Indian access to navigation signals of the Russian Global Navigation Satellite System, (GLONASS), and Indian access to a part of GLONASS Radio Frequency Spectrum. Progress has also been made in cooperation with Russian Federation in the development and use of the Russian GLONASS navigation satellite programme. India has been elected by the International Astronautical Federation to host the International Astronautical Congress 2007 (IAC 2007) during September 23-28, 2007 at Hyderabad."

I think a little explanation might be useful, to avoid confusions : some media speak about "six canadian microsatellites" launched piggyback.
But in fact Satori is right concerning this piggyback cluster : because it's only a matter of canadian management for the mission, not a matter of satellites' ownership

See this link for details :

The military CartoSat-2A will be launched in December.
There are 2 querries:
1. Earlier they said it is TechSAR from Israel. What happened to that?
2. Begin 2007 there was a civilian Cartsat-2. Any news about it? I have not heard of any operationalization.
Can anyone here say something about these?
Thanks,
Anupama Upadhyay

The next satellite to be launched is TECSAR (or TechSar). The name Polaris has been reported in several indian publications. An insider in the israeli aerospace industry reported, that the name of TECSAR is not Polaris, but i have no more details on the ominous Polaris-designation.
The information on the December launch are still contradicting.
Some sources report that the main payload will be Oceansat-2 (requiring a standard PSLV).
There have been indian reports some time ago, which told about four military versions of the CartoSat-2 spacecraft (called CartoSat-2A, -2B, -2C and -2D, see
http://www.forceindia.net/june/feature2.asp ). If these exist and are similar to the CartoSat-2 spacecraft, a PSLV-CA (Core-Alone) launch vehicle will be used. If the figures from above mentioned website are correct (Cartosat-2A 1100 kg vs. Cartosat-2 680 kg) it might be at the top limit for the PSLV-CA version.
The civilian CartoSat 2 is now operational.

Cartosat-2, launched aboard PSLV-C7 is already working fine and some forums have posted images from Cartosat-2.
http://www.spacemart.com/reports/Cartosat_2_Camera_Tested_999.html
Just Working of Camera ( at the time of 1st switch on ) is different than saying that it is working satisfactorily in operational mode. Operationalization has not been announced.
Cartosat-2 images:
http://www.isro.org/pslv-c7/photos/cartosat-2images.htm
The images are Jan/Feb images. Supposed to be at least 1 m resolution. One can see jagged/blurred edges even for houses.. so are not really usable for 1M analysis.
Camera mis-alignment?
Understand that the camera of Cartosat2A is under re-evaluation/correction.

Annu, no idea about the product quality. But ISRO's marketing arm, Antrix (
www.antrix.gov.in) mentions Cartosat2 data on its mechandise.
http://antrix.gov.in/dpoposs.htmI believe that could not have happened without operationalising the satellite.

ISRO has posponed the launch of oceansat-2 as told here,it is true that oceansat-2 will go in some other pslv missions...
some un-confirmed reports suggest there's a brazilian or taiwanese satellite early next year...not sure if it is a solo mission or a piggyback...
Cartosat-2a wasn't made by ISRO and hence doesn't appear in any ISRO reports....and i guess it is a israel-made satellite as told here
