STS-120 Entry Videos/Pictures
« on: 12/05/2007 04:11 pm »
Perhaps I'm out of my mind and completely missed them, but I never saw any videos or images of Discovery's entry last month, despite the fact that she passed over the continental United States.  Am I loony or did anyone capture/post any images or videos?

Haven't read or seen anything, either. Nothing in the MSM or even space-related/astronomy blogs.

Unfortunately that sort of emphasizes the diminishment of interest of most people besides us spaceflight geeks if nobody documented any attempt to see or picture the reentry.  :(

Yeah.  It blows my mind how little people seem to care now.  They have the chance to see a part of history and they'd rather sit indoors and watch MTV.  It's sickening to see my generation do this.

The answer is obvious - we need to take over MTV and emphasize spaceflight as much as possible.

MTV has played a large part in dumbing down this nation.  It's taught our teenagers to be shallow, fake and scripted.

I totally agree Nathan.  And pre-teens, teenagers, and to a degree young adults are extremely lazy and very materialistic..  It's kewl to be stooopid, it's kewl to talk back and be disrespectful adults and Sr. citizens, it's acceptable and kewl to just be mediocre (sp) and dopey.  It's really kewl to mimic and be like gang-members (the scum and parasites of humanity).   In other words - our country is in DEEP-DEEP trouble because of these types of cretins, and for the most part - it's become acceptable to society - which really gets me.  The biggest problem is that disciplining children has become a total no-no.  Just pat them on the head - and it will go away....   OH - Happy New Year to ALL!

Did you miss the most amazing set of images on L2, where she's heading to KSC and breaking through the clouds with a rainbow contrail?

I think he was specifically asking about photos or videos of the entry itself, like Columbia. Not landing photos or videos shot at KSC.

Correct.  I was looking for any shots of the actual entry and plasma trail like the shots of Columbia.  Plenty of landing shots, but none of re-entry to be found :(
