Swiss Army Knives/Multitools in Space?
« on: 11/15/2007 11:09 pm »
Hello everyone,
one of my other little passions is collecting Swiss Army Knives and multitools.
I heard that a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife is standard issue to shuttle crew.
I believe it's one of the Cybertool variants, is this true and if so which one is it?
Have any multitools made it up, Leathermans etc.

Thanks for any help with this,

regards,
Kerwin.

Victorinox claims at least one, if not multiples of their models fly:

According to a knife collector website, there was a "Space Shuttle" collectors model, based on the one that flies, which in turn was based on the Master Craftsman model (US#5044/Swiss#1.47 63).

Man, I hope they leave the multi-tools up there - my leatherman (though dearly loved) is one heck of a weight in my pocket.
