• CBS has confirmed the new launch director, Doug Lyons.  I guess Mike has given launch director to him for this mission.

• Not sure where I see CBS 'confirmed' it? Just seems like a similar list to the one posted earlier here, which came from early documentation, and against NASA sources & the press kit...

• The FRR starts up soon. Should not be more than the half day meeting. Certainly isn't a showstopper in the mix.

• FRR expected to take slightly longer "should be done in a day" noted Wayne Hale.

  "Officially" I always wait until a launch date is set, but overall looks great. The CONUS is undergoing a MAJOR pattern change, and it looks like the outcome will be VERY cold for the eastern half of the US and pretty dry, especially in the southeast. Right now the computer has low-70's with no rain, and I don't see much reason to modify that.

  Respectfully, I'm going to attempt to draw a distinction, though maybe slight.  Given the authority the launch director has and how long Mike Leinbach has been LD (since 2000, I believe), maybe it's not trivial.
  
  But would I make a value judgment about this change?  No way, and I'm certainly not qualified to do so.
  
  From a "reading the tea leaves" standpoint, Doug Lyons did the "greet the crew" photo op when they flew to KSC for the TCDT...

• NASA Announces News Conference on Status of Next Shuttle Launch
  
  CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - NASA managers have scheduled a news conference at the Kennedy Space Center, Fla., no earlier than 4 p.m. EST, Friday, Nov. 30, to discuss the status of the upcoming space shuttle mission. The news conference will follow the Flight Readiness Review, which is chaired by NASA's Associate Administrator for Space Operations.
  
  The Space Shuttle Program completed its review for Atlantis' STS-122 mission on Nov. 13, and the International Space Station Program will hold its readiness review Nov. 27. The Nov. 30 readiness review is expected to include the selection of an official launch date for the assembly mission that will deliver the European Space Agency Columbus Laboratory to the space station. The current targeted launch time is 4:31 p.m. EST on Dec. 6.

  - Associate Administrator for Space Operations Bill Gerstenmaier
  - Space Shuttle Program Manager Wayne Hale
  - International Space Station Program Manager Mike Suffredini
