I understand that the rollout on pad is now scheduled for the fourth of May.
Am I right?

I believe so, but I'll double check (it's normall a week in the VAB for mating).

Thanks very much!
These are good news.
A May 31 launch date is now more sure.

Looks like they're getting ready to put the JEM-PM in the payload canister...

Pictures of the today's transfer of the JEM-PM to the canister and the OTS being positioned for rollover are up on the Kennedy Media Gallery:

There's a processing update in here:

Also includes first notes on Discovery's STS-119 ET-130 processing issue.

Great article again. Someone needs to update and accredit wiki on Atlantis and the other flights.

Howdy STS-124 fans ... Just a heads up that I've been following NASA TV's launch of their HD service in this thread:

http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11551&start=1

As you may know, they ran an HD feed all day yesterday with a one-hour loop of earth views, in commemoration of Earth Day.  That feed ended at 8pm last night, however this morning instead of taking the HD feed back down, they still have it up and it's showing a live shot of the pad (39A I assume).

I've attached a tiny screenshot from my MPEG video analyzer, it's the best I can do.  Actually, right after I took this screenshot, a hand wiped off the lens (like our friend the spider on the tower cam) and then they moved the camera down so now it's looking at the grass around the pad.  Riveting!  :)

Note that this is NOT on your cable system or DirecTV or Dish or anything public like that.  This is on NASA's main media feed on the AMC-6 C-band satellite, which you can see only if you have a Big Ugly Dish in your yard.

For much more info, see the "NASA HDTV" thread I linked to above.  Read through the whole thread (it's only two pages) for the "whole picture".

I'm envious. The lucky people who happen to be on the KSC tour today got a pretty impressive view from the visitor gallery.  Not much was happening last month when I was there during the 123 launch.  Timing is everything!  :)

Since the move was around 9-10 am, I'm not sure there would have been much to see by the time the "first bus of the day" got there...

Most of the bus routes are changed when hardware is being moved. The crawler will move with busses driving right past it, with an unloaded MLP. If the shuttle is on, no traffic other than those needed to get past. Once it makes it to the pad they will reopen the bus tour to the observation post near the pads.
Sometimes the visitors get lucky and see some cool things, being on this site you would be informed of when these things were taking place so your odds of seeing something would be much better :)

I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong; but in the Edwards article you say "carbon-carbon brakes,"  I think they are just carbon brakes discs against the steel wheel drums.

Yeah, wasn't confused by the RCC, was literally taking "carbon-carbon brakes" from the comment made by an engineer in the associated L2 section with the presentations.

Let me double check...
