Chris Bergin - 26/2/2008 1:49 PMIn the VAB, they have six SRB segments up, and RH forward segment went up last night.
Chris, it seems like the EVA on STS-120 for SAW repair gave valuable experience in prolonging the life of the OBSS while unpowered, why no mention of this in the article? Or am I off base here? Did I miss the post-flight health assessments of the OBSS after 120?
Edited to add: Overall a very good article, as usual for this site.

Trekkie07 - 3/3/2008 3:52 PMFrom the way I read it, the lessons learned from STS-120 will be applied in the way of testing the sensor packages after the OBSS is transfered back to the Shuttle arm. Furthermore, just because the OBSS sensors survived one 9hr un-powered excursion, doesn't necessarily justify trying it again or increasing the amount of planned un-powered time. What the STS-120 data does provide is some reassurance that if the astronauts are running behind in the timeline, the OBSS sensor packages will most likely be OK if the un-powered time is violated for a small amount of time.

Obviously you don't want the package going unpowered longer than it was designed to. But what I was trying to say is exactly what you do in the 3rd part of your post. It means that there is data to support being able to extend the unpowered time during the EVA if absolutely necessary.
shuttlefan - 5/3/2008 2:56 PMIs SRB stacking complete?
Orbiter - 7/3/2008 8:16 PMSo, no problems being worked right now? That is great news if there is no problems at all.
