JEM PM is the biggest ISS module right?  How will 1J rank in terms of heaviest shuttle payloads?

Overall, not close to Chandra/AXAF + IUS, but that went to 28.5.  To 51.6 it's in the ballpark of the power modules (P3/P4 or S3/S4), but not quite as heavy/massive at launch.

STS-124 will also be the first mission to use the External Tank (ET-128) with design-modfications (i.e new Ice Frost Ramps)

Isn't this also the one flying without an OBSS on-board at launch, because of clearances?

It wasn't the heaviest either

Is that one of those ones that you can't say anything about?

Very exciting.  Besides Kibo itself, the JEM EF/ES looks to be quite a monster as well!  Looks like the 2J/A flight will be quite busy, too.  That's STS-127, correct?

Yep.

The mission baseline on L2 (by the way, we got another just a week or so ago, added a day to the mission) shows they pick up the OBSS and do inspections afterwards. No FD2 inspections.

Found it!  (L2 is a bit like drinking from a fire hose).

Funny quote regarding that extra day, in light of recent events:

"Provides real-time flexibility for un-expected anomalies"

Both the EF and ES themselves shouldn't be much larger than an ESP. It's the extra added experiment modules hanging off the edges that make them look a lot larger.

Ah yes I see.  Thanks :) I'm excited to see these labs in operation.

They should use that quote! The cloud makes it easy though, especially when the are adding cool stuff faster than you can read it! CLick cloud, click STS-124, click "PRCB: STS-124 Mission Duration Change in the FDRD - Oct 25, 07." download :)

Sure is a big module. Is it the same size as anything else on the ISS?

In terms of US style modules, I think is Desiny is shorter by 1 rack, is that correct?

They both have 6 racks side by side for a total of 23 (Destiny has the window in one position, Kibo a docking interface). Kibo is longer because is has a scientific airlock at its port end (and the RMS is mounted there too). Kibo is the longest module of the non Russian ISS part.
