Is this due to dizziness or something or does she just love Discovery a little too much  :bleh:

AP delivers a surprisingly uplifting opening statement for their landing article...

"Discovery and its crew returned to Earth on Wednesday and concluded a 15-day space station build and repair mission that was among the most challenging -- and heroic -- in shuttle history."

I see the birds have returned to the runway.  I guess the SUV's stopped honking!

Let's hope we get a deorbit video a la STS-115 from this flight. At least that should make up for the crappy HUD-video from the landing  :bleh:

Zoomer30 - 7/11/2007 10:27 AM Is it just me or does that crew vehicle look like the old Astrovan? Probaly not, just an observation. Looks like they took the wheels off of it and add the lift.
This is a converted Mobil Passenger Lounge that is used at Dulles Airport to move passengers from one terminal to another. Long time ago, they use to go out to the meet and de-board all the passengers from the airplane and take them to the main terminal.

Ha!  I knew I recognized that thing!  I live 3 miles from Dulles and have ridden in those for years.  They're just now expanding to underground walkways, but still use the lounges for some of the closer gates.

And for those that didn't know (I didn't) during our tour the week of launch at KSC, we were told that the 'lounge' is raised to the second floor of the astronaut quarters so the astronauts can walk directly into the medical bay for a checkout without havng to worry about stairs/elevators, etc...

Very nice images John!

Crew about to step off the transporter soon. Some heading back on the Astrovan. Clay probably going to take a while to recover....but knowing Clay ;)

Would the HUD-video have been recorded on board Discovery? because if so, I would expect that one to be fine, with no transmission issues.

A lot better landing then some of my own and I was not flying a brick...  I did notice that plop in but thats what the gear struts are for.  Nice landing...  Amazing the success of this mission...  Launch on first try, successful unplanned repair job in space, and then a successful landing also on the first try.  They trying to make this look easy???

Now for the fun of the next week and a half as the ISS relocates Harmony to get ready for Columbus.  Going to be cool to see the docking pics next month with the station looking different from then Discovery left it.
