What sort of provision would they make for Clay Anderson and what sort of condition would he likely to be in after his long duration flight? Any info or linkage to procedures for his egress would be interesting.

Here is rubbing your noses in it.

Saw it all from the comfort of my office(with 10 other people).  Saw it before the on the HAC call.  It was only out of sight (over my building) for a short while.  Flew directly over my building just after 90 HAC call

Actually been to three landings at Edwards and it truly is something to see that shuttle sail right above your head in elegant silence (though those sonic booms do reverberate for a while...)

APU Hyd shutdown complete.  That always marks the real end of mission in my book.  Good job to all.

That's nothing, we all saw all of the re-entry over the internet on NASA TV and....oh yeah, I see your point ;)

Forgot to add.  NASA TV was on one monitor and NASAspaceflight.com was on the other one.

Always good to hear Sir! :)

If he needs it, they have a fire rescue team available to get him out of the orbiter

Sure, and STS-115 cockpit re-entry and the cue cards on the bottom. Plus the boss didnīt show up. That was good!

Also: nice shoot of the camera nearing the nose. So cool

He'll turn into a bat and fly right out.

Is it just me or does that crew vehicle look like the old Astrovan?  Probaly not, just an observation.  Looks like they took the wheels off of it and add the lift.

Showing replays of the landing now. This was perhaps the worst HUD view EVER.

Does the drag chute normally fully deploy (including full de reefing after initial deploy) before nose gear touchdown?  It seemed later than I remember on previous nominal chute landings.

I think Pam touched down a little too early with a bit too much speed. I think the drag chute deploy is performed at 190 knots or something

Guests back on the forum. We got into silly numbers again for re-entry and landing but we stayed up and strong, so apologies to the guests, but there's a limit to the demand we can cope with. We seem to be ok right now in the thousands, so the next time will be STS-122 launch when we take this action.
