rdale - 3/11/2007 2:37 PM Did EV2 get any of the get-ahead tasks taken care of before SAW work started?

No, I think those were to be done, if time permitted, after the repairs (if you're referring to the PDGF and handrails in Harmony) Anyways, they went straight towards the SAW tasks.

Thanks - I see in the timeline they had an opportunity before and after SAW repairs but hadn't heard either way.

I'm going to step off a bit, so anyone else who wishes to continue with the comments...

Now Scott is preparing to cut the lower guide wire.

Steve Swanson talking to Discovery:

Offline Bubbinski

They're waiting for a GO from Houston.  3h 48min into the EVA.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

"Discovery, you have a go to cut the guidewire".  Scott is getting his tools ready, cutting below the vise grips.  "3, 2, 1" snip.  They've cut it.  "Nicely done"
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

They have no more room to go up, as they have reached the robotic limits.

Did we get confirmation that the guide wire retracted all the way without issue?

Heading to orbit night.

Offline Bubbinski

"Very nicely done" - the cut.  Scott giving assessment of snag....15 in. of guidewire with 2 hingewire segments still attached.  The first we've already cut out.  There's a grommet with 5 in.....below that a significant fray...small damage site, the guidewire still trapped in the grommet with the fray."  Scott will see if he can free it.  He thinks "we're done here" (not meaning anything bad).  Houston believes trimming is the right way to go.  Scott now getting ready to trim the guide wire.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Did they cut the top of the snarl?  Also will the EVs remain outside to observe the remaining deployment of the array?
