What would they have done if the rip had been on the far side of the panel?

If you're thinking the further of the two arrays, they could probably use the BGA to rotate the plane of the arrays perpendicular to the truss and work on it that way.

I know Dextre is on its way upstairs in early 2008 but the boom seems like a useful piece of kit to have around on the space station too. Does anyone know of a plan to leave one up there post-Shuttle? Preferably one adapted to be used by the SSRMS as it is by the SRMS?

The current plan is to stow one on STS-123 on the S1 Truss.  Two support struts were installed on STS-118 on the S1 zenith trunion pins to hold it.  Their is a plan in work to provide power to it while it is stowed.  The sensors would still only be compatible with the SRMS and the SSRMS would still only grapple it from the middle.

Don't forget there is a thread right next to this one dedicated to discussion the array fix and options and other questions like that which aren't related to FD11

Palo wanting to print a PDF file over on the shuttle side instead of using Station printer.  Having issues moving the file over.  MCC offered to uplink it to shuttle

Also getting ready to start EVA Conference

As a proud Canadian, living and working in the US and total space junky it is so cool seeing both Arms and the Mobile Transporter being used in such an huge improvised EVA.  The mission itself is impressive but the ability to improvise so much in such a short period of time is great engineering and problem solving.

NASA, CSA and the contractors appear to be doing a great job on this.  Best wishes to complete success today and tomorrow guys.
Starship, Vulcan and Ariane 6 have all reached orbit.  New Glenn, well we are waiting!

Orbit 2 has now taken over  per PAO

Conferences underway for robo,  then ROBO/EVA,  and finally a full crew EVA conference

not much going on in the way of comm.  Crew must be doing that conference

Here's a shot of what I think is the SSRMS

Just as an aside... I think I may have learned how to gauge KU availability (roughly)
It appears that when the white background bars are available on one of the TDRS bars along in the Detailed section of the timelines then KU is available...

I've been testing the theory against packages and events  (esp PAO events and the VIP event) yesterday plus live today... This is also being reinforced by comments in the plan itself.

If this is old news OR I'm off in left field let me know...

All:  I can offer a final word on this.  SRMS uses the grapple fixture at the front of the payload bay only.  While undocked it can be reached but while docked the docking adapter and PMA2 are in the way so the SRMS can't pull the OBSS out of the bay.  That is the only reason why SSRMS is required whenever OBSS is needed and the shuttle is docked.

Thanks. That is now clear.

MCC has told Dan that the mobile transporter is at site 8 and I would guess that means it's latched now.

Offline Bubbinski

Yes, that is the SSRMS.  They just said the MT is now moved to Worksite 8 and they are ready to go.

Edit: This will be my only update as I have to go to work now.  Bummer.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Don't think this has been mentioned -- a get-ahead task for EV2 will be the retrieval of an APFR which is suspect of having cut Wheels’ glove and past EVA gloves, for IV inspection.

PAO reporting they are wrapping up the robo conference onboard.  Exercise is going on as well as transfer.  Robo/eva conference in about 30 mins.  All crew except Yuri will be doing a EVA conference after that.  Then Pre Sleep.  So that's the plan for the rest of the day

MSB at 1 pm CDT as planned.
