Timeline for FD11 TBA as we await confidence of FD12 EVA-4 and the timeline that results from this decision.

L2: Super Hi Res Images of the plan being carried out on the ground. Numerous presentations on Robotics involved, OBSS, stage planning, etc.etc. and more.

We'll refine as we go, this is going to be something special...NASA and its contractors at work, solving a problem, via the mindset that got us all interested in the space program.

Why am I sayng this now and not at the start of EVA-4? Because it's all about planning and proceedure. I personally know a few guys working right now, working overtime, with mugs of coffee, running through every tiny eventuality, making sure Scott goes out there with several hundred people covering his back.

Just remember that the next time you read an article on some site, using words like "risky gamble, bad year for NASA" etc.

Good morning Discovery!

Wake-up song is "World" by Five for Fighting played for Doug Wheelock, who subsequently dedicated it to the ground support team.

mobile transporter will move from worksite 8 to worksite 3 to grapple to OBSS in a few moments

mobile transporter is arrived at the worksite

edit: mobile transporter is on its way to the worksite

edit:edit; PAO totally confuses me now, but she says the MT is still at worksite 8

I have confidence that these Astronauts can pull it off (the EVA I mean). We've seen things in the past where the somewhat impossible was possible. This one could be one of those moments to do that, yet again. :)

I too also like the title "Epic EVA-4."

And let's not forget that this is also a huge accomplishment for Mission Control and everybody that worked on the procedures to give ISS a fighting chance at fixing this array.

I'm curious - I read in one of the many posts... that the parts for the cufflinks were flown as contingency parts - sheet aluminum, 12 gage wire and connectors - does anyone know when they were brought up?  It would be really something if they were actually brought up on Node 2!

So it looks to me like they will pre-position the OBSS attached to the SRMS with the SSRMS in close proximity so it can be grappled quickly to cut the margins on the OBSS time constraint.
If so, that is one smart move.

That also alleviates my concerns about translating the MT/SSRMS with a load!

I would like to interject one observation about ISS from this flight.  As some of you know, I'm one of those crazy people who updates his ISS model as the real ISS updates on orbit.

On this flight, when P6 moved, it became VERY apparent how much ISS now dwarfs the shuttle.  When Discovery undocks and does the fly-around, the shear size of ISS should be much more impressive than on previous flights.

SSRMS has unberthed the OBSS and is moving it to handoff position

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is !

If I understand correctly later the SSRMS will move back to worksite 3; why if it will have to grapple the OBSS again tomorrow? Maybe I missed something.

It will hand the OBSS to the shuttle SRMS today (which will provide power for the OBSS and keep the sensors from freezing).  Tomorrow, the SRMS will hand the OBSS back to the SSRMS, which will be at the worksite ready to go!

Hope that helps!
