The array pictured is in the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, Building 9, at Johnson Space Center. It is  used for training.

Thanks!

Yes, but in the images you can note that 1) the BGA is by itself on a stand, 2) there is only one blanket box attached, and 3) the overhead crane track and crane itself in the upper background are yellow, so unless they removed one of the S6 BGA/Blanket box assemblies and moved it to a new location then disassembled and opened it, it has to be an additional assembly.

Given the presence of Joe Tanner in one of the pictures, I'm assuming this was taken among the Building 9 work at JSC that Mike Suffredini referred to in the status briefing.

(And the images themselves are labeled as such "JSC2007-E-095027", etc.)

Edit -- and, well, the image description for this picture reads in part:

Quote
With plans being put together for a contingency EVA on the STS-120 mission, contractor and NASA engineers and astronauts gather in JSC's Space Vehicle Mockup Facility on Oct. 31 to rehearse possible ISS solar array repair procedures to be used by STS-120 spacewalkers.

I admit I usually don't pay much attention to the description details, as they tend to be rather generic except for names and mission reference.

(and, hehe, I notice the description details were added as an edit.  ;)  )

Looks like one big building!

What will they actually be doing tomorrow? Seems the mission plan is out and it's all about pre-EVA-4 preps?

I think one of the things they'll be doing is staging the SSRMS with the OBSS at the end of P6 (bring SSRMS back to retrieve OBSS, then out again).

They're going to be studying the new info and procedures very carefully ... so probably not much for us to see on orbit, but Friday is going to be crazy.

They probably won't want to move the OBSS until they're ready to do the EVA.  That would still give some thermal margin to the thing and maybe help preserve its functionality later.

Has anyone seen anything on how to fix the array...  Now to reach is an option..but to fix?
