Here's a what if...and I know that it's very hypothetical.  Can they extend the remaining 6 bays knowing full well that there could be some more damage and utilize the arrays in that configuration?

From that side it doesn't look nearly as bad to my eye. The arrays look mainly intact which is good. If they can work this free and fully deploy with just one tear then they should be ok. the damage seems to be localized and not terminal at this point - at least to my eyes.

I second that. I believe it just looks worse that it really is, because of so many wires in a large array.
Reminds me when accidentally pulling a string in my hamaca. Looks terrible, but if the string is not cut, you can easily (but patiencely) rearrange it.

That was another contribution of the Yucatan culture to science.

Just a curiosity question from a new guy:

What is the "normal" delay between the audio/video from "Live" to Nasa TV?

Appears to be some delay w/ the video over the audio too.

When we heard the "Aborting" on the SAW deployment the cameras were already in "get over to the incident" mode.

Just Curious, thanks all, best shuttle site Anywhere!!!

"50 percent the way through it was looking great. At about 90 feet, crew called an abort, stopped the array. Turns out there is a small tear in the array.

"We decided to retract it one mast bay to relieve some of the tension. The BGA is being rotated for the best views of the array for the crew to downlink video."

Largely, very successful. I'm very happy with how things went and we'll see where we are tomorrow (Paraphrased).

More comments on how Scott was describing the port SAGJ as "Brand New" several times (Yeah, I'll ban myself for this, but I have a Kanye West song in my head now) ;)

Right glove vectran is the EMU "damage" - was called out as left by PAO, but no matter. Spotted, not a problem as they have spares.

On an unrelated topic, is the MSB still scheduled for 2:30 EST, or is it being pushed back to allow for more time to analyze what's been happening today

I've been calling JSC PAO re a briefing and they tell me as of now the next one is not scheduled. But now they say it WILL be on schedule!!

BTW: What is the current attitude control status of the ISS?

Don't they go free drift for SA deploy? Or just gyrodine control?

CMG/Thruster Assist (no gyrodines on board yet, unless you're referring to the CMGs).

EVA-4 will be dedicated to starboard SARJ, at present - as we know, but still being evaluated.

They may decide to remove a damaged part on the SARJ, if they wish.
