Space suit and glove checks often end with the astronauts reporting "alpha."  What does this mean?

ISS is called "Alpha" when it has a U.S. commander.

Yes, I understand this.  I was under the impression this "Alpha" (repeated with each glove/suit check) was not a call to the station but rather a report on suit condition.  However, I could be wrong.  I will listen carefully next time to see how the word is used.

Just a note (a heads-up if you will) for those watching on NASA-TV, should have some good KU for the next 15 minutes or so on West, however after this time we will be on TDRS-East and I am not sure we have going to have KU after that handover occurs in 20 minutes or so based on the FD8 execute plan so be forewarned (I hope I am wrong).

The 2B array is about to be redeployed on P6, the first time it has 'seen' the sun since STS-116 last December if I remember correctly.

12 minutes left of this West comm pass, 49 minutes to sunset.

Are they deploying only one bay today?

No they hope to deploy this 2B array to full length today, and then deploy the other 4B array on P6 to full length later today in a couple of hours.

2B is opening up to one bay to let the solar panels warm up, 4 minutes to East handover, 41 minutes to sunset.

First bay deployment of the 2B array was successful!

Only 30 bays left to go to full deploy! ;)

Did they said they were deploying both wings to one bay?  Kind of hard to tell with the switching of the video...
