He said that if for some reason P6 cannot be deployed, then it would be difficult, if not impossible to support Columbus without a functioning SARJ.

I guess I hardly consider P6 deploy concerns to be a "threat" but I guess wording is all in the eye of the author :>
It's because they're going to be short on power with only P4 arrays providing power. So essentially, they're back in 12A stage(P4 arrays deployed but not providing power and P6 is only arrays providing power) seen from a power perspective.

Not quite that bad, my guess is that without SARJ auto-tracking they may only get 30 - 50% of max power out of S4, but that is still a lot better than 0%.  They may also be able to do a little waggling of the Staion with the CMG's to improve orientation and increase that percentage. You also can still pivot the indidual arrays around their axis, so they are not completely fixed.

How much power could the consistently get out of P6 when it was on top of the station without a SARJ to help it autotrack?  That's what this situation may be like with a frozen SARJ.

Wow, the complex is flying with Discovery's TPS in the direction of flight... isn't that risky? (MMOD hits, etc...)

That used to be the standard docked attitude prior to RTF. Now they swing the entire complex around 180°s to protect the orbiter TPS.

I missed it.  The conversation that's playing now... is this a replay?  Or are they talking about it right now?

The shots of Harmony above remind me a lot of the Skylab footage with various astronauts literally running around. It's a shame that Node 2 will soon be sluttered up - a necessary evil, but I sure miss the days when people had a lot of empty space to goof around in. :)

Peggy and Dan did another magnet test. A piece of a bigger flake was magnetic, as well as the finer particles.

Is John44 going to get this morning's briefing uploaded before he turns in for the night (in Europe)?  Been itching for it all day.
