Is anyone clear what EV1 is doing underneat the MLI on Harmony?  I have lost track.  I believe he is removing something.  But what?

He is removing a bunch of caps. 16 in total.

Yes.  Agreed.  But caps to what?

PAO only describe it as "some outfitting" on the node.

Another CBM flap cover open:

But he closed it again... why's that?

Scott near the Soyuz, working on the new Node.

There seems to be something floating between the cover and the CBM.

Can someone explain on what part of the SARJ the filings are? And any guesses what it could come from?

From what they were talking about (my connection here is slow and I can't get good full screen video) it sounded like it was on the bearing raceway.  Bearings would generally be made out of steel which could explain the magnetism apparent.  Not knowing anything about the types of bearings used in the SARJ, but assuming they're standard ball bearings (I have a hunch they could also be tapered roller thrust bearings), we could be seeing rubbing of the rings together, or cage to ring contact.  Not sure.  Maybe someone can chime in with more about the bearing design then I'd be able to give you more information about possible failure modes.

More connections completed inside the truss.

And Scott continues around the CBM covers.

RPCM will be skipped for now and do PDGF first as it is higher priority. (Can't relocate Node 2 without this step complete).

Did anyone know how far they have gotten on the node 2 outfitting? there was supposed to be an electrical connection that I don't know if they've gotten yet. Also, did they get all 4 pip pins removed and the zenith ACBM petal launch restraints?

When the astronauts make a long transit from one point to another, are they still continuously tethered? If so, how do they manage the long tethers?

Yes, they have long deployable tethers. They seem to be made of some kind of metallic wire, and I suppose during training they're instructed how to manage them so that they won't tangle or get stuck.

They don't have to be tethered at all times, they can just pull themselves around using handrails. If one does float away without a tether, they have a pack called SAFER on theeir backs which can move them back.

On submarines, we have a safty track that runs the length of the deck. When surfaced, we can attached a tether to a harness and walk the length of the deck without detaching. I'm wondering if there is something similar to this on the exterior of the station.

When Dan was transiting back to the airlock to retrieve the 2nd camera, they had Scott meet him halfway so he would have to change out his tether. That is what prompted me to question the tether config.

At least one tether is required at all times, even when moving (why the main ones are so long with different lengths). An additional tether is required at any worksite.
