Can anybody run a quick where-were-they-then? on ISS and Discovery at the time of the Chinese moon probe launch from Xichang, 10:05 GMT this morning? Any chance the crews might have had a chance to see anything?

Weird black dot in lower center of images. Edit: Seems like it is a speck of dust on the LDRI lens.

That wouldn't be close enough, right?

Obviously, they need to check over everything on the ground, but on the internal loops, only that one gap filler on the wing is noted so far (protruding, but very little as per image we got on L2).

No "ROIs" (Regions Of Interest) that have immediately been noticed. They'll eventually find up to 100 of these, before they tick them off.

So, all good on that score.

Question: did one of the WB-57 aircraft cover the launch yesterday? I was at Ellington Field yesterday, but it was too windy to fly, and one landed just after 12:00 local. I could not see if it had the camera 'nose' fitted as it was on the other side of the airfield.

Anyone know?
It's all in the data.

As far as I know, the use of the WB-57's for launch imagery has been discontinued on cost reasons.

MSB in 30 minutes.

As per L2: They'll likely show the gap filler. The debris strike about 150 seconds into ascent. ET photography (tank looks reasonably clean, bar one area of big interest). The ice that did fall off at SSME ignition. Off Scale High SSME 1 during ascent (3 mins in) came back later, SSME was fine throughout. Same with an MPS sensor.

Not sure they'll say anything about the plume seen during first stage that appears to be venting from the tank (but likely isn't), and could be nothing, thus won't be mentioned.

I think that's everything on current status.

wow, it sure WOULD have been, especially as the second stage rose above the atmosphere headed due East. Discovery would have passed only a few hundred miles in front of it -- and somewhat above it.
