If so, it looks like the ISS could have a viewline to the lauch and the orbiter might have been able to glimpse the LV halfway through ascent; depending on whether the exhaust plume is bright enough to be spotted from such a distance.

THIS:Oops, too late. Very odd though. Obviously a top secret US military nano-sat was deployed from that section of the ET, making it *appear* as though it is foam liberation. You see, he simply can't talk about it. Seriously though, you're not the only one who wants to know about it.

Chris Bergin - 24/10/2007 3:53 PMNo one was criticizing anyone! It'd of been nice for someone to ask the question, but no one was criticizing.
ApolloLee - 24/10/2007 5:44 PM Not to be a nag, but we're usually criticizing the media folks at the briefing for asking too many questions about foam loss... Now we're criticizing them for not asking a foam-loss question?
It's more a surprise that John Shannon didn't address it in the first place. There's a difference between a reporter's fishing for tragedy (which is often the case) and reporting the facts. And in this case a fact was omitted that should have been discussed.
